Wed, 19 Oct 2016 17:34:48 EST Confusion about dietary ketosis I have always eaten on the lower end of the carb scale. I eat between 75g and 125g of carbs per day. Around 50g of fat and 100g to 150g of protein. I did not think this is a really low amount of carbs. I have a friend that is really into a low carb lifestyle and he said that I should check my self for ketones because he thinks I am in ketosis. So for the last week I have checked it. several checks showed a result of 5mg/dl and two showed a result of 15mg/dl.
Does a low level of ketones ... Wed, 19 Oct 2016 11:48:19 EST Whole and unprocessed foods I can't help but notice the mantra on Sparkpeople of only eating "whole unprocessed food". Has anyone ever thought of what would happen if suddenly everyone in the world decided to do this. You may have guessed, immediate food shortages. Another issue is that a lot of people are feeding their entire family on $40.00 per week. When these people buy food they are supplementing the fresh foods that they can afford with pasta, rice and other processed foods that they can afford.
I work in t... Wed, 19 Oct 2016 09:00:19 EST Feeling slightly concerned Hello everyone. I am looking for suggestions whether my concern is warranted. Wed, 19 Oct 2016 04:18:20 EST Beginning Nutrition The past couple months I have eaten a ton of sugar, sodium, and carb based foods. They're quick to make and/or I eat due to stress at my job. My job is a 8 hour desk job that just has me answering phones. I do some light walking throughout the day, but that's about it. I'm hoping that if someone has the time to talk me through how to make sure I eat the right meals and such, would help out a lot. I have a general idea of what I should eat and shouldn't. I began by saying only 2 flavored packets per day. I would drink one 24oz glass of water, then in the second one I used a flavored water (10 calories). I alternated between water and the packets until I ended up the day drinking 96 oz of water (12 glasses). I carry my cup with me everywhere. Even mowing the pastures and dragging the fields, my cup (or a water bottle) is in the cupholder. Now, I drink mostly water... Tue, 18 Oct 2016 10:39:14 EST Food tracking struggle... Hi Everyone! I was hoping someone might be able to help me. I just started back on SparkPeople yesterday. My biggest downfall with any program I've tried is always the food tracking. The problem is the majority of the food that I eat is made at home from scratch without following recipes. For example, breakfast was a veggie and egg white hash bake that I made over the weekend - I saw a similar recipe and just added and subtracted ingredients to get to what I like. The problem is, it tak... Tue, 18 Oct 2016 08:02:12 EST Calories change with exercise or no? I am so near my goal weight by 2 to 3 lbs. Tue, 11 Oct 2016 14:34:40 EST Blowing daily carbs I'm blowing way past my daily carb allotments when I track my food. I've decided to discount my fruits and just concentrate on the other kinds of carbs, which are my bigger problems. Does this sound wise? Thanks in advance for any thoughts! Tue, 11 Oct 2016 12:49:17 EST Difficulty tracking homemade meals In an effort to lose weight, tracking meals and the nutrients/calories, etc of them, is an important step in my opinion. It keeps you accountable. Where I get stuck is trying to do this for meals I make at home. Some are easy to track, if for example, you have chicken, veggies, potatoes, the ingredients are easy to separate and track. It's more difficult if I make a dinner meal where there are multiple ingredients. For example, if I make a soup, I don't know what to count for this as the pot ... Tue, 11 Oct 2016 12:06:56 EST Plain and Simple I seem to do much better when the food I eat is very plain and simple--plain meat, plain vegetables, plain salads, with maybe just a little seasoning, rather than recipes. I'm doing a LOT of fitness, and I'm trying to eat close to the range, but many days I don't eat enough according to the suggestion. Should I REALLY be trying to eat that much? Mon, 10 Oct 2016 17:39:43 EST Why is scientific evidence for diet hard to find? If you are older than fifty you can remember all kinds of recommendations for our diet. Sun, 9 Oct 2016 02:16:05 EST undershot the calorie range? On tuesday of this week, I had a doctor's appointment. When the nurse did the vital collection, I discovered I had gained 10 pounds in the two months since a rather disastrous diet attempt that had unknowingly been a dangerously low calorie count. The doctor was not happy because I have a blood disorder which means that the heavier I am, the more life threatening risk I have. Mon, 8 Aug 2016 11:14:35 EST Mediterranean Diet I've recently been told that I have pre-diabetes. (That wasn't a surprise - I'm more surprised that they didn't tell me that a year ago.) I'm very borderline and I should be able to reverse it fairly quickly - in fact I've already reversed it a bit as I was concerned by last year's result, even though no concerns were raised by the nurse then. I've been reading that the Mediterranean diet would be good to try and it's common knowledge that it's a very healthy diet. I was expecting to find lo... Mon, 8 Aug 2016 10:27:10 EST How to freeze cabbage I am looking for information on how to freeze cabbage. Mon, 8 Aug 2016 05:44:56 EST No Scale So, I made the rather hasty decision to get back on track with some healthy eating/weight loss regimen starting tomorrow. There's only one slight problem:

I don't have a scale to get a starting weight.

I'm dogsitting for a friend for the next few days, and while they DO have a scale in their house, it's so inaccurate that using it as a baseline for my progress wouldn't be in my best interest- especially since I wouldn't be able to continue using the same scale to monitor... Sun, 7 Aug 2016 21:00:14 EST Hamemade chicken noodle Neck pain sidelining me since Friday night. Wife making homemade noodle soup. I add pepper vs. salt for flavoring. Not bad. Sun, 7 Aug 2016 18:02:55 EST Low potassium and magnesium numbers I always seem to have low potassium and magnesium numbers at the end of the day. I do take a multivitamin but it only helps a little bit. Other than bananas are there other foods that are high in these two minerals? I can't do a lot of fruit or potatoes due to blood sugar levels Sun, 7 Aug 2016 14:33:28 EST Stop the Snack Attack Plateau Challenge I am participating in the 30 day Plateau Challenge. Eating fruit and veggies such as salad and bananas throughout the day helps keep me full. I eat an apple or other dense fruit such as a peach with a healthy protein source, a HB egg or nuts, for my afternoon snack. If I don't plan and prepare for this part of the day, I will find myself at 3PM dreaming of the vending machine and that is another battle all together. Sun, 7 Aug 2016 07:39:44 EST Refeeding anorexic sufferer Hi am needing some help around nutrition. My 16 year old was recently diagnosed with anorexia and is severely. I am in the process of refeeding here and am still trying to get her macros right. I seem to be going over with fat and under with protein. She is eating all whole foods and very little of anything processed. She is eating between 2500-3000 calories a day. It is working out around 45% carbs, 40% fat and 15% protein. Recommendations through my fitness pal is 50% carbs, 30% fat and ... Sat, 6 Aug 2016 21:43:01 EST Competing diets and peace on the homefront? I have been on Spark for almost 2 years and have dropped 51 lbs so far with 3 to go. I watch my sodium levels to stay 2300 mg or below to help keep the water weight off some. Hubby, on the other hand, has no diet plan at all, eats what he wants, and doesn't worry about sodium. If fact I think it drives him nuts that I watch my sodium levels so much as well as the rest (calories, fats, carbs). He doesn't understand why I worry about it at all.
Any one else have some similar problem? <BR... Sat, 6 Aug 2016 17:01:18 EST Is it ok to just eat veggie and fruits? i have been on a diet for two weeks eating nothing but veggie and fruits
I realized that it's not ok to eat like that
And I started to eat brown rice, whole grain products but i feel really guilty afterward like i am eating white rice and stuff like that.
