I am not exactly new here but new to posting. I decided to post today to try to find support. I am 44 years old and have been perimenopausal since 39. It is extremely frustrating and embarrassing. I felt I was too young and still do! I gained 10 pounds prior to PM due to stress and depression and since then I have gained between 10-15 pounds on top of that. I have been extremely active in the past (half-marathons, bootcamp, ToughMudders, Spartans....) and recently with the weight... Tue, 21 Feb 2017 08:32:13 EST Please Help Me Reduce My Daily Calorie Intake Please help. At first, I aimed for 1600 cal a day and I just felt muddle headed and sick and didn't want to drink water. It was like that for 3 weeks and I lost 6 pounds and then regained 3 pounds. Today, I had a (what I calculated to be) 1800 cal intake and I feel fine. But I'm reading how people are able to keep their calories to 1200-1600 a day. I'd really love some insight as to whether I'm on the right track and should maintain the 1800/day or if there is a way to reduce my calories... Tue, 21 Feb 2017 02:00:40 EST 21 Day Fix vs. Calorie Counting
Hi Everyone!
I'm not new to this whole SparkPeople journey thing; however, I keep getting sidelined by my own unrealistic expectations and those bumps in the road that you don't always see coming. In the past, I've lost 40lbs and kept it off, then met my (now) husband, had kids, etc. and its much more difficult now for me to count calories and stick with a meal plan and workout program. My health has taken a backseat for the last few months (read: years) and I really want to jump b... Mon, 20 Feb 2017 21:41:06 EST Herbalife I've been on Herbalife for a little over a month. Mon, 20 Feb 2017 20:34:19 EST Stirring Peanut Butter So I often avoid buying the nut butters with the oil separated because it's just too messy stirring it back in.

Right now I have some yummy almond butter that needs stirring. Mon, 20 Feb 2017 19:39:43 EST Too much cholesterol I have been trying to follow the Sparkpeople diet of 50% carbs, 30% fat and 20% protein and a suggested number of calories.
In order to get enough calories and meet the 50/30/20 % I often go way over the cholesterol suggestion. How do others handle this? Mon, 20 Feb 2017 11:28:06 EST What are you drinking with your meals? Hi All,
I have found that water is the best option for me. I like it with a lemon slice in or maybe cucumber slices. When we eat out rather than have the traditional soda , coffee or tea I will ask for hot water and a slice of lemon. I find that I can actually taste my food and not add extra calories and I save a couple of dollars also. It's a win-win for me. I like taking snacks for after my workout but this often doesn't end up happening because I never seem to think of things to take that suit my diet. I generally like having a snack high in protein because my workouts are often in the afternoon when I'm trying to lower my carb intake. I also like baking so thought I could maybe make something but everything I've seen has had protein powder or a lot of carbs/sugar. Thanks for any suggestions. Hi, 9

I have been a member of Spark People for around 6 years, but have never tracked my food like I should. Recently, I gained 10 lbs after working so hard and losing weight. I was distracted with moving out of my house and to another country. What I should have done, since I did not have time to exercise very much was adjust my meal plan and reduce my calories. Sat, 19 Nov 2016 02:29:29 EST Does your body get "used" to a calorie deficit? Hi Sparkpeople! Just wondering if your body can get "used" to a calorie deficit. For example, for the last 7 weeks or so, I've been keeping my calories in the 1600-1800 range (with a cheat meal about every 2 weeks). At first, I was actually feeling pretty full eating in this range because it's all whole grains, veggies, low-fat dairy, and lean proteins (the way we should eat!). But now, even though I'm still eating right, I'm feeling more and more hungry. Is my body getting used to the change... Fri, 18 Nov 2016 17:10:12 EST Candida I've just been diagnosed with candida overgrowth by my allergist. I've looked online for any information and am getting very little information, especially from a more reputable site. Most info is from a few years ago and states that this is not considered a "real" issue by most of the medical community. Anyone have an information source to share? Fri, 18 Nov 2016 11:59:23 EST Almond Milk This is wonderful - only 30 for an 8 oz glass - I love it in my smoothies. Fri, 18 Nov 2016 10:46:59 EST I am now a fan of almond milk! Believe it or not I just tried this for the first time a couple days ago. Bought some unsweetened SILK almond milk at Walmart. I put it in a bowl of Kashi Go lean, added a little bit of splenda, and it tastes just like 1% milk with less than half the calories and sugar.

So yay I am a fan. Fri, 18 Nov 2016 10:16:59 EST Complete protein question I will start this off by saying I do not eat a lot of animal products. I usually will eat only a 3oz portion when I do eat meat. I get most of my daily protein from vegetable sources. So I do combo eating. Whole grain in one meal and beans in another meal. Here is my question. My friend has an opinion that I have to eat say, lentils with faro to make a complete protein all in the same meal. I was under the impression that as long as I ate them through out the day, not necessarily at the same ... Fri, 18 Nov 2016 08:41:40 EST Getting that water in If you have trouble getting in that H2O, drink a glass upon rising in the morning, at least one glass before or during meals, carry some with you as you go about your day. (Remember it is 8 oz . Measure that glass it probably holds more than 8 oz.) Thu, 17 Nov 2016 07:03:28 EST I need help on making a decision! Hello everyone!

I am so stuck right now. Several years ago (pre marriage and pre baby) I had lost 15 pounds simply by tracking food on my fitness pal and working out to Turbo Fire- which is a pretty intense workout program.

Now I am a working wife and mom and well, things have changed.

For starters, I am 40-50 pounds heavier than I need to be. Pregnancy changed my body. I developed a condition while pregnant called SPD (Symphasis Pubic Dysfunction) which ba... Tue, 15 Nov 2016 15:23:40 EST Not getting to 1200 calories a day I can't believe I am saying this but I am totaling less than 1200 calories a day. I know that is not supposed to be good but I am not hungry and eating a lot. Breakfast is a green smoothie which is easy and convenient.
Lunch can be salad, tuna, peanut butter on celery, hummus and carrots, and add apple and some carrots to much on.
Dinner is turkey, chicken, tofu and lots of vegetables and once or twice a week a starch. And my glass of 5oz wine.
The vegetables hardly add up. ... Tue, 15 Nov 2016 14:45:15 EST 5 oz wine and lose weight? I really enjoy my one 5oz glass of wine each night. Is that really standing in the way of me losing weight? Tue, 15 Nov 2016 14:39:23 EST What counts as water? mabey Earl Gray Tea I like Earl Gray Tea with a little sugar. It improves the flavor so I have found a way to have a Little sweetness in my tea and at the same time have a healthy drink. I put BAI Antioxidant infused Brazila Blueberry (1 cup = 5 calories) in my tea. This also is a way to increase fluid intake for little caloric cost. I'm not really fond of plain water.
