I am not exactly new here but new to posting. I decided to post today to try to find support. I am 44 years old and have been perimenopausal since 39. It is extremely frustrating and embarrassing. I felt I was too young and still do! I gained 10 pounds prior to PM due to stress and depression and since then I have gained between 10-15 pounds on top of that. I have been extremely active in the past (half-marathons, bootcamp, ToughMudders, Spartans....) and recently with the weight... Tue, 21 Feb 2017 08:32:13 EST Please Help Me Reduce My Daily Calorie Intake http://www.sparkpeople.com/myspark/messageboard.asp?imboard=7&imparent=41023996 Please help. At first, I aimed for 1600 cal a day and I just felt muddle headed and sick and didn't want to drink water. It was like that for 3 weeks and I lost 6 pounds and then regained 3 pounds. Today, I had a (what I calculated to be) 1800 cal intake and I feel fine. But I'm reading how people are able to keep their calories to 1200-1600 a day. I'd really love some insight as to whether I'm on the right track and should maintain the 1800/day or if there is a way to reduce my calories... I like it with a lemon slice in or maybe cucumber slices. When we eat out rather than have the traditional soda , coffee or tea I will ask for hot water and a slice of lemon. I find that I can actually taste my food and not add extra calories and I save a couple of dollars also. It's a win-win for me. Its just that my dad has appointed a personal trainer and he has just told me that the trainer is going to set him out a 3 month diet sheet... and that it's going to cost £100. Is this normal? I don't want to offend the guy and don't like questioning professionals but this just seems a bit much to me for a diet plan on paper. Thank you again for taking the time. Happy new year everyone 😊? That gooey, pasty looking stuff that my mom made. Anything sweet in the morning just made me want to wretch. (Why do we only eat oatmeal sweetened?) Now fast forward to me as an adult. I was making my girlfriend a meal, at her house, and decided that a nice rice side dish would go well with the grilled chicken breast and vegetables that I was making. She had a container of what I thought was brown rice in her cupboard.(Actually they were whole groats.... Tue, 22 Nov 2016 14:09:32 EST Do our bodies fight against weight loss? http://www.sparkpeople.com/myspark/messageboard.asp?imboard=7&imparent=40380711 After people lose a lot of weight there seems to come a time when many start eating a lot of the wrong things again and put it back on.(Me for instance). My question is, are our bodies fighting it and trying to put it back on? I know that many diet regimes are set up to not last forever and then when you try to transition to regular food you lose control because you have felt deprived, but are our bodies fighting the weight loss? Just wondering if your body can get "used" to a calorie deficit. For example, for the last 7 weeks or so, I've been keeping my calories in the 1600-1800 range (with a cheat meal about every 2 weeks). At first, I was actually feeling pretty full eating in this range because it's all whole grains, veggies, low-fat dairy, and lean proteins (the way we should eat!). But now, even though I'm still eating right, I'm feeling more and more hungry. Is my body getting used to the change...
