I haven't been able to do any exercises for the past few weeks, until recently doing strength training for the upper body. The problem is to lose body fat you're supposed to do both strength training AND cardio. I tried swimming today and I know it'll work as long as I don't use my legs (ankle hurts when I kick), but is there anything else I can do? I don't have a lot of time or money to go to a gym. I do have a leg press and leg curl on the weight equipment. Should I use them too. Tue, 14 Apr 2015 11:16:02 EST can your brain speed limit options for exercise? this is going to sound weird, but... over the past years, I've exercised moderately and felt clumsy -- but always assumed that if I worked harder on things like dance, cardio dance, zumba, etc., that I'd "get it." Now, though, I'm wondering if that's really the case?

For example -- I can easily reach the floor and reach up, do squats, etc. -- but I seem NOT to be able to get all the way down and all the way back up at top speed as is required in some of my classes. Quite a few people have told me that really intensive exercise would make me stronger and more toned, and would "melt off" weight. Sat, 28 Mar 2015 16:28:00 EST Home cycle recommendations? Anyone use a home cycle? By that I mean a small exercise bike-basically just the pedals and a frame. I bought one in January to use when it was super cold outside/snowy and I couldn't physically get to the gym, but I killed it this morning-the pedal metal went through the actual plastic pedal. Any recommendations? I regularly go to the gym itself but it's nice to have a small piece of cardio equipment at home too. Fri, 27 Mar 2015 10:37:51 EST Exercise and calories question I know you need to eat enough when working out, but I haven't been seeing many results besides being more toned (which I'm not complaining about). My measurements have stayed the same, and my weight has stayed the same or gone between the same 2-3 lbs for 3 weeks now. So my calorie range is 1400-1700 normally (when I eat 1500 I feel like I'm going to faint or be sick), and when I burn 300-400 cals during a workout, it bumps it up, so I eat more. I am excited and very motivated. My exercise is currently a mile 5 days of the week that takes between 30-34 minutes depending on the day. I still have over 80 pounds to loose and am increasingly frustrated that while what I am doing is working, my stomach (ahhh my trouble spot) is still way out of proportion with the rest of my body.

My caloric and food intake ... I'm considering signing up for some classes at OTF, and the instructor there informed me that I needed to do at least 2 classes a week there to see any benefit, and only doing 1 class a week would be "throwing my money away". I currently lead a HIIT workout class 3 nights a week, so I'm not sure I want to do high-intensity workouts 5 nights a week. For those with experience with OTF, is it worth the investment? Does anyone know how long it takes for your heart rate to return to it's resting state after exercise? I know it takes longer for people who are out of shape, and I'm pretty out of shape, so I'm just curious. I have tachycardia and I just got a new heart rate monitor. I want to keep an eye on my HR just to make sure it's doing what it's supposed to.

Disclaimer: I have been approved by my cardiologist to do any and all exercise as long as I listen to my body. I have never taken yoga classes regularly because my gym doesn't offer them and the yoga studio near my house is too expensive to do as often as I'd like. But in the past when I've tried it, I've found it very stressful. I feel like there's so much to remember and concentrate on that I get overwhelmed by it. Also it seems like even classes that are supposed to be for beginners are full of people who know what they're doing and I end up being the one that the teacher has to keep correcting and... Thu, 5 Mar 2015 10:06:08 EST Body Fat Percentage Today I went to have my Body Fat percentage checked-I know such measurements aren't always accurate and they can be considered as guesstimation, nevertheless I was a bit disappointed to see that my percentage is 28%. I weigh 141 lbs and am 5'9'' tall, I have lost 22 pounds or so in the past 6 months. I know I have to work on my muscles, but honestly, I didn't imagine there was still SO much fat. I know we need to burn off more then we consume in order to lose weight. But, if I am exercising, do I need to eat more, or just stay within my calorie range. My range is 1200-1550 calories a day and I usually try to stay around 1300-1400 and I have been losing weight each week. I started exercising Sunday and according to my Fitbit I have been burning right many calories each day, but I didn't lose any weight this w... Wed, 4 Mar 2015 10:23:33 EST Exercise that is gentle on joints I have bone on bone pain in feet and knees. A pinched nerve in foot. What Piyo exercises would you recommend? Wed, 4 Mar 2015 06:43:18 EST Does anyone plank? I have a Parisian friend who swears by planking. I'm not sure it would be good for my back, but I really need to build up my core muscles. I have to move in 5 months, and when I moved 9 months ago, the bending and lifting almost killed me! My back hurt so badly I could not move off the bed for two days after I got to my new place. I'm trying to avoid that this time by losing weight and strengthening my core. Tue, 3 Mar 2015 18:35:47 EST
