I'm 68 and have been working with my oncologist's nutritionist to get my weight down. Over the past 5 months I've lost about 20 pounds. I still want to lose more. But so many things are against me, and I sometimes need something (or someone) to keep pushing me. I live alone, kids are far away, so it's me and my dog (who is also a "senior citizen"). I have a lot of illnesses (breast cancer-in remission but still on maintenan... Mon, 30 Oct 2017 13:28:45 EST I'm 50 years and forgetting I'm this age! I've taken such good care of my health and fitness for most of my life, and since I've turned 50 years old, I realize I look very young for my age. I forget I'm 50. I have younger men wanting to be with me. I then remember, OMG: I'm 50 years old, old enough to be your mother. Geez, it's such a realization that age IS just a number. I found out I had a hernia, and worked hard to lose the weight. I was a thin kid and teenager, but as I got older, the pounds crept up. A sad reality of life as I age is that the metabolism I had at 25 is not what I have now. Foods I used to love are now eaten in great moderation if at all. I still see negative comments here about drinking coffee and I'm not sure where the roots of that thinking lie. It has been studied exhaustively and the best controlled and most recent research suggests that it's not just okay, but good for you. As with everything, the caveat is moderation. It had me near to passing out years ago, but in hindsight, that may have had something to do with third shift, getting four hours of sleep a day and drinking about a pot and a half of Mr. Coffee every d...
