Hello, late post as we went and saw the movie Fury. Very good movie! Anyway, I am down another pound this week. Slow but steady, I'll take it :) I wasn't as good at working out this week as last week, but I did eat well.

C- glad you are feeling better. I am really surprised that I haven't come down with it, as it is really spreading among my co-workers.

L - You are doing fantastic!

T - hope you are doing well.

Today was the first day in 5 days that I worked out. I can't believe it took so long to feel better. Yesterday I still felt sick and was exhausted trying to clean my house. Today I was nervous to work out...thinking I would have a hard time...but was able to complete my work out at the same intensity that I was doing before I was sick. I did not weigh myself yesterday...but was still at 158 a couple of days ago.

L let's end on Nov 2nd...only makes sense. I am free any of those weekends...S will have to let us know if she is free to come in....if not then it will just be you, me and maybe T. It would be nice if we could all get together. It would be nice to talk about the challenge...what we learned about ourselves and each other as u did learn quite a bit.

S I really thought you would join the gym...as it doesn't look like it would be crowded...but I get working out in front of others... I don't think I ever have. Glad you have a routine for working out. That is great you are feeling more energy. I think being on days helps with a routine.

I'm off to my mother in laws for thanksgiving dinner...

Hi, sorry I missed the weigh-in yesterday. I did weigh myself and I am up 1 pound. I am sure it is just my muscles holding onto some water as I was really good this week. I started working out and boy do I feel great! I am sleeping better, and I have so much more energy. I chickened out and didn't join the gym though. The more I thought about it I realized that I am just not ready to exercise in front of other people yet. So, I have been using my StairMaster and my workout dvds. I am going to go workout as soon as I sign off here. Although, I feel like I am coming down with a cold, I am determined to exercise today!

T - I am so sorry for your loss. It's been a rough year for you, but remember to take care of yourself too.

L - I believe the last day is October 31, although it would make sense to make it Nov. 2 as that is a Sunday.

C - Hope you are feeling better!

Hello, just maintained this week. I am actually surprised as I did really well with my food and portions and work has been very busy so I am walking lots!
I made the decision that tomorrow I am going to join the gym that my husband goes too. I am very nervous, but I think it's time. I know he will hold me accountable to actually go, and when I lost weight in the past it was when we went to the gym together. Now, I need to go shopping for workout clothes as the ones I have now I wouldn't wear in public, lol.

C - glad you are feeling better. 158 is great! I can't wait til I am that weight again!

L - Congratulations that is awesome.

I will have to look at my schedule to see when I can come in. I don't think I have a weekend off for awhile though.

Congratulations L that is so wonderful. I know you have been trying so hard to be down that 10th for the longest time. You are absolutely right about eating a variety of foods because the minute you restrict you will gain the weight back if you can't maintain the restriction. I think through these 20 weeks you have learned what works and what doesn't for you. Great job!!!

I stayed the same this week...still 158. I am going to try and step it up these last couple of weeks...but I most likely won't meet my goal weight. Eight pounds is too much to lose in the short time left but I will try my best to lose something between now and the 30th.

I know you asked last week about getting together for dinner...S will have to tell us what works for her as she will have to come in on the ferry on her days off.

Weigh in
Much to my surprise , I'm down 3.6 pounds since last week
I'm now under that tenth digit that I've been trying to get to for the last month , by 1.7 pounds
Only two doses of water pills this week
So ...I'm pleased
I feel more motivated now , my percentage of loss is not that much , cause I have a lot to lose
But that being said , I'm down from June ...and that is great
Can't complain about that
I think for the long term it is best to eat all types of foods , moderately ...
The loss is slower though but I think easier to maintain for the long haul
If u go hard core the minute u start eating the foods u stopped eating u will gain weight
Hope everyone is doing well

Hi everyone, I am down 2 pounds this week. I didn't do anything differently so I think the fact that I am working days has made a difference. I don't eat a lot at work, and then I go to bed early now. Still need to fit in exercise somewhere!

L - 1.6 pounds is still awesome! It must be hard fluctuating so much with the water pills. You are eating less calories and choosing healthy foods, so as frustrating as it must be, remind yourself that you are doing everything right, and whether the scale shows progress or not, you are changing your body/health. The number on the scale is not always a true refection of the changes that are happening within. You are doing great!

Hi everyone :)

I am loving my new schedule! I actually feel like I had days off, now that my last day ends at 3 pm vs. 11 pm. Tonight, I am going grocery shopping and stocking up on healthy foods, and then I am going to prep my lunches for the week as I am back to work tomorrow morning.
I still haven't exercised but I am making up a rotation that I plan on starting on Wednesday. For now I need to get used to getting up so early, so I am focussing more on my food.

L - congrats on being down another 2.6 pounds since Sunday - that is fantastic!
C - you eat very healthy and it's great that you put in the extra workout when you feel you went over your calories. When I was successful losing weight in the past that is what I did. You are very committed - way to go!
T - congrats on your loss as well. Hope your knee heals quickly!

Thanks-you L...yesterday was a good day...not so today...I ate 6 timbits...I didn't realize how many calories are in 1 - 45 calories. My son brought home a big box of them from work yesterday as well as a big bag of muffins. So far I haven't eaten any of the muffins as I know how many calories are in muffins!!!!

Will need to work out for 1 hour this afternoon because of the 6 timbits!!!!!

S-Congratulation on being down 1 pound. I think it would be better for you to make a plan to work-out after work. You are up at 5:00 am if you wanted to workout first then you would have to be up at 3:30 or 4:00am. Why don`t you come home and have a short nap and after dinner work-out. That would be easier to maintain...than getting up so early.

L-Congratulation as well on your loss as well. I guess you will know next week exactly how much it is. Have you started to add exercising into your routine?

Hi everyone, I am down 1 more pound this week. I have not really been on plan so I can just imagine what I could lose if I was! I actually thought I would gain this week as I was off for 4 days in a row, which means not a lot of walking for me.
Good news is I got the day shift line I was hoping to get. I now have no worries about my job security! I am actually have the most seniority on the floor now. It's going to be hard to wake up at 5 am 4 days a week now as opposed to 2 days, but I know I will just have to adapt and I will get used to it.
I need to come up with a workout schedule that will accommodate my new schedule. I just have to get a routine going. I want to get my workouts done before work, but I don't know if that is realistic. If not, my only other choice is to do it as soon as I get home.

L - I think knowing what our triggers is huge! That's awesome that you have figured yours out.

C - It's good that you are changing your routine up as our bodies will definitely adapt to things over time. That is wonderful that you went from a fair reading to excellent on the fit test! Way to go! That must be very encouraging and motivating!

Hope you are doing well T!

No gain that's good to hear c
After a very nice lunch at the boathouse with my friend , I weighed in...
I have not had any water pills this week , and only one dose last week . I definately have swelling in my feet and lower legs ....
Here's the good news ...I gained 0.2 pounds since last week .
So in short , I have lost weight ...
I will have the time to take the water pills this week , next Sunday I should have an accurate weigh in
Overall I'm very pleased ...I hope to lose more by the end ....if not , I will still be happy .i make very good food choices overall, am very much aware of what my triggers are , and am aware I need to exercise regularly .....learned a lot

I was getting into a predictable routine with my work-outs and needed to change these up. Today I did the following

1. Took a walking test - you walk for 1 mile as fast as you can and record your time and heart rate at the end of the 1 mile. You enter this information as well as your weight and age and your given a rating. I was fair when I first started and today I was given an "excellent" reading. I walked 1 mile in 14.44 minutes with a heart rate of 127 when I finished.

2. I then walk 1 mile at a 3.7 speed and incline 3.

3. I then ran for 1 mile

I felt good at the end of the 3 mile work-out...but still don't feel I'm ready for the G Grind.

No change in my weight as of this morning...hoping for 1/2 pound at least for tomorrow. Once again my eating has not been as good as it should. I'm thinking of recording what I eat through-out the day on the board to keep me accountable.

Hope everyone else had a good week and weigh in tomorrow.

C

Thanks L :) You have been successful 16 pounds is awesome! You most certainly deserve a pat on the back :)

C - Congratulations on completing the WR 1001 steps - emoticon You should do the Grind, I think you will be pleasantly surprised at how well you do. It doesn't matter how long it takes you, you will feel awesome when you do it, and have completed all of your goals. You have been a inspiration throughout this challenge. emoticon

T - Happy Anniversary! Hope you had a nice dinner :)

What I have learned from this challenge: I definitely have learned that I let stress and things I can't control effect me too much. I also need to manage my time better. I feel like I always have so much to do and therefore I am neglecting myself by not exercising. I need to change that and make the time for myself. I know if I just start and get into a consistent routine I will feel so much better. I know I will have the energy that I am so lacking right now.

Have a great week everyone :)

Hi everyone, just time for a quick check-in. I worked the day shift and then went grocery shopping after work. I did remember to weigh myself and I am down 1 pound this week.

I will be back to respond to posts later tonight. I did read them all though and it sounds like everyone is doing well this week :)

I am down 1/2 pound, 159 pounds. Down 19 1/2 pounds since June (10.92%) and 26 1/2 pounds since April (14.29%). Could have done better with my eating which explains the 1/2 pound loss. I am going to try and eat better this week as I really want to reach my goal weight on 150 before the end of October. Time to step it up.

Hope everyone else's weigh in goes well.

Off to church. emoticon

Do the grind , it might take u hours , but u will make it , just take breaks when u r doing it
No water pills cause each dose takes five hrs of my life , I pee a lot , not much else I can do
I've been too busy with wrk appts kids
Your food intake makes me feel better , life will still continue , there is junk everywhere
There us a doc on u tube called fed up ...I'm going to watch it
It's about the food industry , tricks etc how sugar is addicting etc
I know I've gained I feel it
I'm not exactly sure why I'm stuck ...too many calories not enough exercise
I did get some exercise this week , we went to Shannon falls , pushed an old stroller for support , walked well over 2 km

L- Thank-you. I am scared to do the Grind but am trying to have a different mindset about completing it. I want to at least try and if I fail...I fail...but at least I tried.

Why no water pills this week? I know I keep saying this...but you need to start exercising. Start slowly. I have had bad food choices all week (cookies and crème chocolate bars - 4 this week alone and I have one more here in the house. I'm talking the big bars!!!!! I also ate a big bag of chips!!!!....I am now working out twice a day when I eat poorly. It is hard to eat completely clean, especially when you have kids. If you know you are going out for dinner try and eat a salad before you go so you won't eat as much. Or eat only 1/2 the portion you are served.

I think we all are emotional eaters. I was talking to S yesterday about it and we both agree that when we are worried we don't eat...but when we are mad or frustrated then we eat more.

You might surprise yourself and not gain this week.

I think I've gained , no water pills for over a week ...my food intake is ok , not great
I ate pasta yesterday , not good , we went for fish and chips this week
I've learned that Emotional stuff affects my choices , not good at all
But I'm glad I learned that

Yesterday I completed the 1001 steps out a WRock. J and I went last night on our way to the states. It was hard, but not as hard as I thought it would be. My heart was beating and I was sweating...but it felt good. It does makes me nervous about completing the G Grind as I know it will be a lot harder.

I really want to challenge myself and complete all the goals I set out for myself back in June. I have completed the 5 K and now the 1001 steps so that leaves the Grind. As I have posted before what I have learnt through this challenge are the powerful words of Chris Powell.....that once you realize the power of keeping promises to yourself and you now ready to change. Change is never easy as I found...especially at first. But it is something we can all do.

Hope everyone has a good weigh in tomorrow. Only 6 weeks left!!!!!!

C I hear your frustration , I applaud your honesty .the lack of response goes against the culture of the group
I think readiness could be a contributing factor
We all need to take a lesson from this challenge , I've learned mine

I've had a bad month , I can not expect a smooth journey
I want. Everyone to be successful . Even if I don't lose another pound , I'm 16 pounds less than I was in June ....nothing wrong with that . I feel successful
My thoughts for today
Congrats s on the weight loss

S- you are absolutely right...I should have waited until tomorrow to post as it was only 10pm when I did.

I hope you understand my multiple frustrations since putting this challenge together...people not encouraging...not reading the messages...not responding...etc.

My frustration is not whether someone loses or gains week to week. It is the lack of response.

C - I realize this frustrates you, but the day isn't over so I really think you should have waited to post. I am exhausted when I come home from work so I usually just make dinner, get everything prepped and ready for the next day, and then I fall asleep for a few hours. I understand you are done with the challenge after this one and that is fine. I admit that I haven't been committed to the challenge, I am not going to make excuses it is what it is.
I am very happy that you have been super committed and have seen such success.

Anyway, I weighed myself this morning and I maintained. Even though I walk a lot at work I know that without consistent exercise I will not lose weight. If it wasn't for the walking I do do at work I would be gaining every week.

L - You have done very well with the challenge as well. Congratulations :)

Forgot to post my stats: Total weight loss - 7 lbs.
Percentage - 3.07%

Weigh In Day!!!!

I weighed in at 159.5.

I have lost 26 pounds since April or 14.02% of weight loss and 19 pounds or 10.64% of weight loss since June 1st.

It is nice to see the 150's on the scale again...last time was in 2010!!!!

It need to know what everyone's weight lost and the percentage since June 1st. I was keeping track at the beginning but lost track. Here is the website the calculates the percentage -

http://www.fitwatch.com/qkcalc/calculate-weight-loss-percentage.html

We only have 7 weeks left in this challenge!!!! Hope everyone has a good day!!!

I can't believe how fast these weeks have been going by.

I have been exercising 6 days a week as I have been doing, but I have started to do HIIT training which is high-intensity interval training. It is really hard!!! I have been using it with my incline routines of jacking the incline up to 10 and walking at 3.5 mph for 30 seconds and then lowering it for 1 minute. It is so hard and I feel very uncomfortable with my breathing, but I think it might help me lose the last 10 pounds in the 8 weeks remaining.

S-I agree with L...don't let work stress you out as it is only work. Take one day at a time. Don't make it an all or nothing situation. If I had done that I would not be where I am now. I don't eat perfect...never have and most likely never will. That is why I personally think exercising is the key for my success. It allows me not to be perfect.

T-Hope you are feeling better real soon. I have not suffered from depression, but know people who do. Depression symptoms often improve with exercise. I know it might be the last thing you want to do. But once you get motivated, exercise can make a big difference. It releases chemicals in your brain that help you feel better.

L-Confused by your message? Who is trying to sabatoge you? Are you referring to junk food bring brought over? Glad your will is strong. Just focus on yourself and let the other stuff go. There will always be temptations in our lives...we just need to learn to deal with it and it sounds like you have.

Lets have a good 8 weeks and end this challenge with success for everyone. If something is really important to you, you will make the commitment to achieve it...even if it takes longer than you want.

I am too sorry I forgot to report for our weigh in on Sunday, it seems the weekend got away on me, then came Monday I was doing some cleaning and getting rid of stuff as, we have put our name in the co-op we are in for a three bedroom, as they have a bathroom downstairs, and it is easier for Daryl, so he dose not have to climb the stairs to go. I did lose 1.7 pounds, or I can round it off to 2 which sounds better .

S. I do agree 20 mins, ( I did something to my knee , I feel like I tore the ligaments , so it will be a slow walk.)

I am watching my portions and watching my carbs.

Sandi, I am the same as you.

I so wanted to , then to be honest with you all I have been feeling so down with all that has happened this year, it could be close to been depressed. But some people think just snap out of it, it is not that easy.

My Aunt Jean is still in hospice, but one day at a time. Still very hard.
Well that is all my jabbering for now.

Thanks S and C for the birthday wishes.

C you are one awesome friend, sorry that I have not been there for the whole challenge as you set this whole thing up, for us., its something that I really want to beat you at :-) ( But we are all in it for our health and that is the most important thing ) but having fun at the same time.

T

Hi everyone, sorry I am so late in weighing in this week. I was away on Sunday and then Monday I completely forgot. I did remember this morning and I am up 2 pounds. I am not at all surprised by that. I have been eating ok, but definitely not great, but I had a few too many beers on the weekend.
Once again, I am letting work stress me out. There are so many rumours regarding the floor that I work on. I don't even know if I will have a job. I am trying to remain positive but it's hard as I HATED being casual.

Happy belated birthday to both L and T. I hope you both had wonderful days :)

L - You are right work is work. I have to find a way to not let it stress me out. That is awesome that you are at the lowest weight you've been in this journey - congratulations! You have a very positive attitude, keep it up :)

C - Congratulations on losing again this week. Way to go! You look great, I definitely saw a change.

T - I think we both need to start exercising slowly. Even if it's just 20 minutes a day, 3 days a week to begin with. I have an all or nothing attitude and that hasn't gotten me anywhere good.

Hard to believe it's September already! I know I haven't truly given it my all this challenge, but I am going to step it up for the last couple of months. I know I will feel so much better if I do.

Congratulations L. It's nice to know the gain was fluid and not fat. You have done so well with your diet. I seem to have good days and bad. I can't believe we only have 8 weeks left. The time has gone by so fast.

Still waiting to hear from T and S.

So I'm 0.2 away from being into the next tenth digit
The lowest I've been so far I my journey
I'm feeling much more encouraged now
Lost the fluid with my water pills
Basically aug I've maintained , not lost
My success this month to me is that I've eaten very healthy , a bit of junk , but otherwise healthy ....this is good
I've realized I definately have a swelling problem , I need to not let that make me feel bad
Hope u r all well

Well I'm down 1 pound this week. The scale flickered between 159.5 and 160...so I went with 160. To meet my goal weight for this challenge I will need to lose 10 pounds in 8 weeks. Might be difficult to do but will try.

Hope everyone had a good week.

L-Sorry about the gain again this week. I wish I could help you as it sounds like your food choices are right on. Please don't cut back on eating healthy food. I am not familiar with water pills and how they effect weight gain or loss...so can be of no help there. But I have a feeling they play a part in this. Maybe try and focus on how you are feeling rather than the scale. If you have more energy and your clothes appear to be getting looser then you know you are making progress. You also might be gaining weight because of stress. You are under a lot of stress with your children's surgeries. They drain you emotionally and physically. Don't get discourage...you have come so far from when we first started this. You are truly making a effort to move in the right direction and I don't want to see you stop. Keep going!!!!!

Happy Birthday...will you be doing anything special with the kids? I know might be hard with your son still recovering. But I hope you have a great day.

S-1 pound loss is great. Slowly but surely is the way to go. Try and set mini goals at the start of each week and see if you can accomplish them...that might help with becoming overwhelmed and then giving up. Keep going!!!!

T-Just keep going...you need to make commitments to yourself and keep them...once you figure that out...you will be on the right track.

Not a Joyce Meyers fan at all. She teaches that obedience, giving and faith are ways to get things from God....the Prosperity Gospel. I personally would not be reading anything she writes...but if you are, check what she says with scripture. If you do then you will find she is not right in what she says. She teaches so many false ideas...her doctrine is so bad. She teaches that you need special revelation from God to understand what she teaches. That alone should be a warning to you. Sorry to go on and on...but it really bothers me when I hear so called Christian teachers distort the Word of God for their gain and Christians believe what they say and follow them without checking what they say with scripture. That is my rant for today!!!!!

The advise of breaking a habit is so true. It takes 21 days to form a new habit...like working out, eat properly etc.

Exercise does not have to hurt if you start slowly and gradually increase your time, speed and weight. I started walking for 30 minutes at a 3.5 on the treadmill for one month and that was it. I then slowly started to increase the speed, use the incline and wear the weighted vest when working out. Start slowly...but you have to start and be consistent at it.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO BOTH YOU AND L!!!!!

Everyone you are doing awesome, I just started to read a book by Joyce Meyers about breaking habits., and it takes time to break a habit, that we have being doing for such a long time, so it takes time to get into a new mindset ( Habit ) like eating right, and excise , and to get rid of our old ones. We have to create a new way of thinking, like food is that really good for me, how will I feel after I eat it. For excise yes it may hurt, but in the end it is for the better of your health.

Hey sorry I weighed myself and gain one pound, I know it is because of a birthday lunch that my friend Lara took me too, It was seafood and rice. But I have this week to get rid of it and try to loose 2 pounds.

Glad to see all is doing well.

Hi everyone :)
I am down 1 pound again this week. I will take it as I really wasn't that good this week. I am doing fine with my food, but I have had a few too many beers this week. Once again work is stressing me out. I know I just have to accept it and let it go. I work on a very busy floor and it doesn't look like that is going to change any time soon. I think I try to take on too much and don't ask for help as often as I should.

L, sorry about the gain. Sounds like it's water weight again. That must be so frustrating!
You are so right about us not being 20 anymore - it's unfortunate that our metabolisms slow down so much as we age.

C, congratulations on the pound loss. You are SO close to your goal! I am very proud of you. I need to be as focussed and committed as you have been. I am glad that Becky is going to do the GG with you as I know how much you want to complete it. I think you are going to be pleasantly surprised at how well you will do.
I haven't watched Extreme Weight Loss yet but I really need to. What you posted is so true and I am starting to realize that about work. The stress is not going to go away, so I need to change so I can manage it better.

Just finished a new routine on the treadmill. It basically is walking and running at high speeds on different inclines. I was able to do most of it. But is will keep me motivated to keep trying until I can do it all. What was more depressing is the work-out says beginner level!!!!!

I would like to complete my last goal before our 20 weeks is up and do the G Grind sometime soon. Becky has agreed to go with me, but warned me she will have to go ahead of me if I'm too slow. She did is in just over an hour. I think it will take me at least 2 hours if not more.

I watched Extreme Weight Loss this week and Chris said some pretty powerful things that spoke to me.......

1. Life is overwhelming. The moment you swallow that pill YOU REALIZE LIFE IS NOT GOING TO CHANGE - YOU NEED TO CHANGE!!!!

2. Realize the power of keeping promises to yourself and you now ready to change.

Had a very busy week, with VBS. It was a fun and I think the kids liked the gold mining treasure hunt I put together for them.

Hope everyone had a good week. Weigh in tomorrow!!!!! emoticon

Sandy,

One pound is awesome, keep doing what you are doing, we all did not gain our weight over night, it crept up on us all. So it it will take time to come off, and we a are doing it the right way slowly but surely.

Sorry I did not post earlier. I have not been feeling well these last couple of days and have been preparing for our VBS this week. I was at the church Friday night and all day yesterday. Loved how all the decorations look...our theme is the gold rush.

I did weigh myself yesterday morning and stayed the same 162. Not happy about that, but not too disappointed either as I did not gain. I think it is going to be harder and harder to continue losing the lower on the scale I get. Will keep at it. Just finished day one of week 5 of my k5 work-out and did my arm work-out with weights.

S-Congratulations on the 1 pound loss. As L said, it seems you're getting a work-out while at work...so I would focus on your portion controls right now. You mentioned doing the G Grind in October...not going to work. It is only open from around April to September. It is too dangerous to do it once the bad weather comes.

L-Congratulations to you as well. I knew it had to have been water weight as that was a lot to gain in one week. Love the link you sent...very informative.

T-Sorry I had to cancel on you. I'm still not feeling the greatest and it was hard to get through all I had to get done this weekend with the VBS and having the dentist apt on Saturday didn't help. Will arrange another day.

I saw on S's post we only have 74 days left of this challenge. The time seems to be going by fast. I hope everyone stays motivated until the end. Then we will have to talk about if we want to start another challenge.

Hi everyone, I hope you all had a great week.

I am down 1 pound this week and I am happy with that as I still haven't been getting any exercise outside of when I work. I ate well and watched my portions though.

Not much else to report.

Hi everyone :)
Sorry I haven't been posting just been super busy and then I was sick for a day. I think it was just something I ate as it only lasted a day and my youngest son had the same thing happen.

I am up the 2 pounds that I lost last week. Again, not surprised as I really have not
been focussed or committed consistently. I hate to keep blaming it on work, but I truly am exhausted lately and therefore I am not exercising. I work a very heavy floor both physically and emotionally so I feel drained before and after work. However, I know that that's just an excuse and if I really wanted to I would find a way to be on track despite it. I think I just have to do it, and then I will start feeling better which in turn will alleviate the stress etc. I won't have time to exercise before I leave today, but I PROMISE that tomorrow I will!
So, I am down a total of 7 lbs since the challenge started, which equates to 3.07% . I am happy I am down, but I know I could have done SO much better. I also question if the 7 pounds is muscle as I have been feeling very flabby lately, especially in my stomach :(

Anyway, enough about me!

T - Congratulations on the pound this week! Those are good goals to commit to :)

C - You are getting close to your goal which is awesome! You truly have been 100% committed and focussed and you are getting the results. Bravo!!!!
I know that I am not ready for the Grouse Grind, sorry. I feel bad because I know you really wanted to do it when I come over at the end of the month. Maybe in October at the end of the challenge? I think you have a good plan to strengthen your leg muscles and by adding in the interval training you will get your heart ready too.

L - You are so close to your goal too! That is wonderful! Sounds like you are having fun at the lake :) Great job on having a balance between still enjoying yourself but still being mindful of your goals.

Looks like you are both doing awesome C and L. Still struggling dealing with my issues. Finding things hard. But will not give up.

1. I am going to commit again to walking three days a week, on my lunch.
2. Go back to the gym two days a week.
3. Try to go on the message board more.

The scale flickered between 161.5 and 162 this morning....but then stayed on 162...so down 1 pound again this week. To date have lost 16.5 pounds since June 1st, which is 9.24%.

L-You might have to consider doing exercise in the water. It might not hurt your back as much. Maybe in September we can looked into doing water aerobics together once a week.
Fruit does help you stay on track as it takes the sweet craving away and fills you up. Enjoy your day at the lake, it's going to be another hot one!!!!

Thank-you L...it has been hard but rewarding.

You also have done well. You should make your goal as you only have 6 pounds to go!!! Hitting a plateau is normal. Sometime you have to change things up a bit. I know I have said this multiple time but don't cut back on your food if you are eating around 1500 calories. Try to continue to add exercise into your daily routine. Even something small will make a difference. You are on the right track and I think you have the right mind set that this is long term.

S-it sounds like your back on track and doing well. Focus on your successes and that will help keep you motivated.

I looked up the GGrind last night and I'm terrified to do it. It is called nature’s stairmaster. It is 2.9 kilometre, 853 metre vertical gain hike. According to the website, the average person can complete the climb in 1.5 to two hours. I am going to have to do a lot more training before even attempting it. On my incline days I am going to have to start adding squats and lunges to my routine as I will need the strength to get up the Grind. I also need to add interval training by alternating between one minute of medium-to-high exertion and 1 minute of maximum effort to help with the cardio strength I will need. I think on Saturday's I might make my cardio routine over 1 hour so I'm ready for a 2 hour hike. I'll do the best I can do in the next 6 weeks and then assess where I am and make a decision if I'm ready or not.

We are in week 10 of our 20 week challenge. It might be a good idea to see how we are all doing at the 1/2 way mark. It would be nice if everyone posted their weight loss since June 1st. I also thought it would be helpful to review our goals and what will help us stay motivated.

C's lost since June 1st - 15 1/2 pounds

C's goals are:

1. Run/walk at 5k - completed - but doing it again

2. Try and do the G Grind in August - still needs to be done...but scared to try!!!

What I commit to is:

1. Cardio work-out 6 days a week for 45 minutes a day - still on track

2. Weight training 3 days a week for at least 15 minutes - started to weight train in July

3. Eat clean – not as successful as I would have like so far. I still eat junk food, but not as much as I use to

4. Try and eat between 1,200-1,400 calories a day - for most days this is true.
