CBUELL30, can't say that I do know how to create new thread for October....but I can try and try to do it til I get it right....keep watching for October Month Long Challenge! We can figure this out.

I have a goal of 4-6 lbs to lose in October. If I can stay at a pound a week I will be at about 185 lbs by the end of the year. I definately can live with that..LOL

Well, I put off folding the laundry earlier today and now it is coming back to haunt me!!! So, I guess I better get at it before its bedtime. Think I'd know better.LOL

I just wanted to bring this up....we are coming to the end of September and the only post I see from the creator of this challenge is the very first one. I would really love to keep logging this weekly like this but not sure how to continue with the same group. Does anybody know how to create one of these boards for October? If so, will you??

CBUELL30,
Congrats on the weight loss so far this month. You're right, slow and steady is the way to go...
A consistent pound lost a week is better than going up and down all the time. 4-5 lbs a month doesn't seem like to much but when you count it over, say 6 months, well, we are looking at between 24-30 lbs. Not to shabby!!

Am waiting to hear how the TOPS scales were to you today.
I weighed in this am....198.5

I heard from the bone doctor this morning. My knee is where it is supposed to be and there is no infection. That's good news, but we don't know why the extreme pain in my knee. This doctor said to see my primary doctor for pain management. I don't want to manage pain, I want it to go away.......doesn't seem likely tho'

Well, coffee break is over and the laundry needs to be done so I better run for now. Have a wonderful day, both of you, and hope to hear from you later.

Good to see you had a weight loss. It might be slow coming but it is coming off. Good for you. Love all your workout minutes. You inspire me. emoticon

I maintained again this week. I don't think I like plateaus at all. Haven't been walking cause the pain in my knee is just too bad. After Tuesday I should have an idea of when I can get this pain gone so I can walk.....before the snow falls. LOL

Well, there is housework calling me so I better get to it. Have a great weekend and hope to hear from you soon.

Hi Tops Lady,
Great for the journalizing. It really helps. I told my doctor "if it goes in my mouth it goes into the computer". Unfortunately sometimes I neglect that a little. But I pay for it on weigh-in day.!!!
Do your exercising just a little at a time. My exercising is walking (which I can't do right now because of the knee pain) and if you like to walk and can go even 15 min a day it will make a difference.
I think only using one scale is a great idea. Too frustrating to have two many different weights.

FYI ; I went to Dr today for the knee pain. I either have an infection or my knee will require surgery again as the artificial knee may be loosening. I have a bone scan next Tuesday so I should know something soon. Sure hope so. I love to walk and miss not being able to.

Well, I am really tired tonight. I think I will have an early bedtime!!! No reading tonight (can't believe I said that LOL).

My weigh-in is tomorrow. Will post results. Am hoping for a 2 lb loss, but we'll see.

Hi Frugalista54 and welcome.
Will you share with us what you weigh? Good for you losing 10 lbs already. That's a good start. Are you sure you mean December 2014 or 2013. Your goal is certainly attainable this December. A pound a week and you will be there by December 31 this year or sooner!!!
I understand the challenge of too much entertaining food...we have a lot of bbq and its really hard to not overeat. But its possible. Try eating a little before you go over to the party so you are not so hungry. Have guests make a salad, if not take one yourself...but be careful what you put on it, a little innocent salad can pack on a lot of calories with all the stuff you can put on it.
I undestand you know your loved ones will love you no matter what you weigh...but you are doing this for YOU not them..when you are healthier they will enjoy the benefits as you will be able to do all the things you love to do. And look good to boot.

Good luck to you all in these challenges. I need to lose 2 pounds to arrive at a ten pound loss since July. Life keeps happening and weigh-ins are not always linear so if I can get to 10 lbs I will. be happy moving into fall. My biggest challenge is that we are blessed with friends and family who love to entertain and we are always included on the guestlist. Challenged by too much love! Why am I complaining. They will not love me more when I reach a healthy weight. I am good enough no matter what I look like but I really want to give them a healthy version to keep loving. I am determined to make that happen by December 2014. with help from all you guys at SP. Any words of wisdom are welcome emoticon

Tops Lady, good to hear your scale is going down. Hopefully TOPS scale will confirm.
Walking around doing errands is definitely exercising. Hope you are able to get some "real" exercise LOL tomorrow..
Glad to hear you are tracking and followed your food plan. I am as anxious as you are to see what the scales have to say tomorrow.

Two more days and I go to the bone doctor to find out why I am having such severe pain in my knee. After we get that taken care of I can start to walk again. Love to Walk.

I know its not Friday but I got weighed at the Doctor's office today.. I weighed 197.6
Boy was I happy. Even got a hug from my doctor. Now I need to see that scale only going down....

Have not exercised last week or the weekend cause of the severe knee pain. I have an appt. Thursday with a knee doctor to see if we can't do something about all this pain. I hope so, it has been a real downer.

CRUELL30 Congrats on your consistent losses. I know it doesn't seem like much at a time but looking at the numbers coming down is great.

I am afraid I am not faring as well. Last week my knee was hurting so bad I could not walk and although I tracked my food and kept "in range" sometimes I was at the high end where I usually stay at the 1200-1250 range. So, between not walking and eating more than I should I gained 2 lbs. last week. I did it to myself. But I learned a valuable lesson...Either take this being healthy serious or quit....and I am NOT a quitter. So I am tracking very closely this week and will walk if it kills me. I expect to see a loss next week. Or else...LOL

Well, DIL wants me to go with her so we can our hair cut, mine looks dreadful. Are taking the girls to the Jump and Down (all inflatable things to jump in and on...they love it) and afterward we always go get ice cream. I am allowing myself less than 1/4 a serving, and yes, I did track it.

I think I'm going to start weighing on Friday mornings for a couple of reasons. 1) I tend to cheat a little more on the weekends, so Mondays can be off due to a bit more sodium intake than normal. 2) With a lower number, I may have better motivation to make better choices on the weekend.

Tops Lady, glad to hear you are starting to exercise. Just don't overdue it. Don't want you to run out of enthusiasm for exercising. I am sure that .2 lbs will come off next week. Just keep tracking, exercising (better a little each day then do a lot and then don't do any) and drink lots and lots of water. emoticon

69 points today. I did drink a soda. I was in a boiler room for 4 hours and that was all that was there. I had to drink something. It was like 110 degrees in there!

Well its Monday....here is hoping we all have a good week. I know we all have different days to weigh in, just be sure its the same day every week. Our weight does fluxulate from day to day and the weigh in day is the average.

Cherie, sorry to hear about your hubby. I am glad he is feeling better. Congrats on going for a walk with all you have on your plate. See, it will be a good week. Just keep walking if you can, track your food and drink lots and lots of water.

VOD1951, keep on doing what you need to due. That glue will get weak and you will start losing weight. Just keep on keeping on. Don't get discouraged. Your body is just resting.

Well it hasn't been a good week, hubby was off work due to a back injury so when I wasn't at work I was helping him. On an upside he did go back to work today so I can concentrate on me again!!
I don't think I have lost any weight this week but I will see in the morning, Monday is weigh in day for me.
I got my whole house cleaned today and still managed a 40 minute walk so yay for that!

Hi all,
Looks like we had a pretty good week. I maintained (darn) and looks like the rest of you had a small loss at least. emoticon

Well, Now we are heading into a new week with a new goal for the week. Mine is to lose 1-2 lbs (preferably 2)




Tops Lady, if I were you I would use the Tops scale to record your weight here also. It will be consistent each week.

If you did not reach your weekly goal, as I didn't, now is the time to keep tracking, drinking lots and lots of water and moving each day, try for at least 30 minutes per day, and we will be successful next week. Just don't set your goal so high you are doomed to fail. Slow and steady is the way to go.

Well, its time to go read my book. Tomorrow is a new day and I Will GO FOR A WALK and TRACK VERY CLOSELY and DRINK LOTS AND LOTS OF WATER.

Good morning
Well, today was weigh-in day...I maintained...not what I wanted but at least its not a gain.
Company has left so all the fried food I shouldn't have been eating is out of the house. Am hoping for 2 lb loss next week.
Nice thing about Friday...its the beginning of a new week. All past gains and losses are behind us and the new week is before us. We will all do great...
I did not exercise 5 days last week. Just didn't feel good enough to get out and walk. This week I will make more an effort to get out there. Need the exercise, and I really do like to walk. That should help with my loss goal for next week.
Well, hubby has a doctors appt in an hour and I have lots to do before then so I better go for now.

Ugh! I have not even maintained, I had gone up 5 pounds, but today am back at 131.4 (start weight was 130). I have been busy and get tired so quickly in the evenings. I really need to start getting up and working out in the mornings.

Good Morning Tops Lady, Congrats on the weight loss. That is awesome. I get weighed tomorrow and I can only hope I do as well. I will go for a walk a little later this afternoon. Kinda chilly out this morning. Will take GD in her wagon for a spin around the block. Its not a long walk but its enough for her. Maybe can do another tonight after dinner. We shall see.

Well, GD needs to go down for her nap. Better go tuck her in. We're going to make banana muffins for dinner after her nap then go for her walk in the wagon. Think I better take a short rest time too hulh.LOL

Another beautiful day here in Southwest MN. Fall isn't too far away and I am looking forward to the trees changing color but not crazy about the white and cold of winter.

IAMJOYFUL, that is a lot of moving. Wish I could put in that much in a day...keep up the good work.

TOPS Lady, 17,000 steps!!! What a feat...I doubt I do that in several days, maybe a week.

Cherie, we can all feel your struggles. We have all been there. I ballooned up to 312 lbs. I am now at 199 and my goal is about 175.. Will see when I get there if that is small enough for me. I am 65 and don't want to look like an old hag...LOL We are here for you. emoticon

Hello all!!

My name is Cherie and I am from Wisconsin, I have been having a lot of struggles with weight this year and my weight has sky rocketed to 238lbs! I am so not happy with this number and really need help staying on track!!
My goals for September are:

Stay motivated
lose a min of 8 lbs
eat healthier
stay away from fast food
and most importantly for me stay away from soda. I am really not capable of drinking it in moderation. If I have some it turns into a lot! My soda of choice is coca cola and the fact that McDonalds will give me the HUGE cup for only a dollar how can one resist??!!! Yes this is my trouble spot!

I am hoping by joining this team I will get the motivation I need, make some new Spark Buddies and get through the first month, which always seems to be the hardest!!

IMJOYFUL2, I agree with your philosophy. I am a diabetic and eat every couple of hours so I am always satisfied. I also eat what I want (that is allowed) I just track it so I stay on goal. Congrats on how long you were active. I am excited about the progress that you will make. We can do this together.

It is chily here. Only 59 and high is only supposed to be 75. The rest of the week is supposed to be in mid to upper 80's. Will try to get my walking in each day.

I will be tracking all the extra minutes that I am active.
So far I have tracked 70 minutes by doing yard work and chores around the house that ordinarily I wouldn't have done.

Good morning all,
Well I had a really good week. Iost 2 1/2 pounds which I did not expect and guess what....that put me UNDER 200 lbs...I now weigh 199 and I am so happy, I know they say our weight is only a number but for me its a number I have not seen in 32 years.

Well, we are heading into September...All I can say is keep on tracking, drink lots and lots of water and try to get moving at least a little (15-30 min) each day. Also do not set your month goal so high is can't be met. Better to aim for 4-8 lbs a month.

Look forward to hearing from all of you...your successes and yes your disappointments
so we can encourage you. Remember, we are all in the same boat.....

Well, I have a little bit of laundry to do and gonna give the dog his bath so I better run for now.

Hello Sharon5913, its good to have you on board. As you can see, I am now a Onederlander now and I am so happy about it. Used to, at one time, weigh 312 lbs. so seeing 199 is really a milestone.

How much do you want to lose? Tracking works. Like I have said before, IF IT GOES IN YOUR MOUTH IT GOES IN THE COMPUTER.

Would love to hear from you everyday...just to say hi if that is all you have time for.
We need to have a starting weight and a goal weight if you feel comfortable with that.

Good morning all,
sorry I wasn't on line yesterday but computer was being worked on and I couldn't use it.. Hope its fixed!!!
Well, mly weigh in day was today...I lost 2.5 lbs and I AM NOW AT 199!!!!! Went for a 40 min walk yesterday...wanted to go further but it was just TOO hot. Am going to go out tonight after dinner...Friday is pizza night at our house...I eat healthy pizza, and yes, I do tracki it. Just don't eat too much at other meals. But it is worth it, to me anyway..lol

So, what are the weigh-ins we are looking at as we move into September??? I hope to lose between 8-10 lbs. If I walk everyday and quit eating the "before bedtime snacks" (shame on me) then I should be able to lose at least 8 lbs. That would be wonderful...Well, granddaughter needs to go to bed for her nap so I better go tuck her in...Hope you all have a great Friday and hope to hear from you soon.

LKENNICOTT: Thanks for the kind words!! I was down to 190 about 2 years ago and just inched my way up again. We had lots and lots of high stress situations occur with our family and it played a toll on me. I have decided to work out my stressful situations at the gym now rather than on the coach. My kids are to the age now that they can stay at home alone which makes the gym much easier to be at on a regular basis. I HAVE to get this weight off and keep it off. This is really the first time I have changed my life style rather than just go on some crazy diet. I was on the HCG diet when I reached 190, but that didn't last because I didn't change my life style. I knew better, but the instant results were addicting. This time, I have more realistic goals and I am reaching them by natural behavior.

One Day and One Pound at a time!

Thank you for the wonderful advice and encouragement. I really need the encouragement right now because I have had a lot of trouble sticking to a healthy lifestyle. I battle ulcerative colitis and with being very sick off and on since January, I get really worn down and discouraged/frustrated. I also tend to comfort myself with food. One of my main goals this month is to gain more control over what I put into my body. With that being said...

Hi all, good to see new people who are willing to put a goal in mind for September. Mine is 6-8 lbs. I know we can meet our goals if we help each other.

ANGGETSFIT, welcome. I read your spark page and I can understand the frustration of trying to lose that last STUBBORN 10 lbs.!!!
BUT IT CAN BE DONE......one stubborn pound at a time.
I have a couple of tips that might help....
l. Try walking with the baby in a stroller for 30 minutes a day.
2. Track your food faithfully every day...if it goes in your mouth, it goes in the computer....
3. Drink lots and lots of water...at LEAST 8 cups a day...
4. Weigh yourself only once a week,...any more than that is too discouraging when we see
a gain, which we will, our weight fluxuates daily...
5. Stay in touch with us on this link, daily if you can...talk about your day, your baby, the
good days and the bad....we are here for each other.
Am looking forward to getting to know you as we go down this weight loss trail together. WE CAN DO IT...Just concentrate on losing one pound at a time so you don't get discouraged. Oh, and by the way...since you only have 10 lbs to lose DO NOT give yourself a time frame. Just try to lose one pound at a time. OK?

TOPS LADY, we are so close in weight (only a few pounds difference) and our goals are really very close. Gonna be fun competing with you. We must encourage ANGGETSFIT with her goal... We both know what those stubborn pounds are huh.

Went for a 30 min walk...went a little over a half a mile...was very hot so didn't go as far as I wanted to. Had cake for dinner which put my calories only 100 away from top of range and I don't like to have that many. Worst part is that cake wasn't THAT good...lol I think I learned my lesson. Will walk tomorrow again and really watch the calories getting ready for Friday. Heres hoping!!!!!

Well, the shower is calling me and then I want to grab a good book til bedtime. Looking forward to hearing from you tomorrow.

Welcome. You have been doing great so far this month, with only a few days left I am very proud of you. I, on the other hand have had a rotten August. I gained 1 1/2 lbs one week and then only lost 1/2 lb...if I manage to lose 2 lbs this week I will have lost 2 lbs for the month. But the good thing is it will put me under the 200 mark...I will be a OneDerlander. Can hardly wait. I know its only a number but its one I haven't seen in 32 years.
Just keep on tracking faithfully and drink lots of water and try to move a little each day. I like to walk. I am a turtle so I walk very slowly, but I get there....LOL And the 30 min I walk a day does seem to help.

Hello TOPS lady, hope you had a wonderful day. It was really hot here (95) so I only walked at WalMart...for an hour...hope that helps. A cpuple more days and we will see if I am finally a OneDerlander. Sure hope so. If not there is always next week huh....I will get there.

Hi TOPS lady,
Hope you had a great day. I was gonna go for a walk but the heat index was 100 degrees so I decided that wasn't a very good idea. So a little later I will walk on the treadmill for at least 15 min. I tend to go faster and further on the treadmill.

I am doing pretty good tracking my food...am staying at about 1200 calories...some days a LITTLE over and some a little under. But overall I am pleased. I just gotta make me move more. LOL

Am looking to hearing how you are doing. Remember....Sept is starting and we have a goal to reach...and I know emoticon we can do it.

Gotta go walk on treadmill, hit shower and grab a good book til bedtime.

Hi TOPS lady,
good to hear from you. Sounds like you are consistent with what works for you for now. I am a little familiar with the Tops point system, but I find tracking in the computer works easier for me, and I am all for easy...LOL
Glad to hear you have lost the past two years. You can use whatever scale you want to as long as you use the same one each Friday. The Tops scale is ok and you post it on Friday if you wish.

I'm afraid if I tracked my steps I would find I don't go very far.... emoticon Gotta increase the distance and the speed, (not sure if in this life that will happen lol).

Sorry to hear about your dad...its always sad when a parent dies.

Hope to hear from you soon...I am gonna go curl up with a good book, or maybe take a short nap (afraid the nap will win out!!)

Take care and best of luck on your tracking this week..Remember, drink lots and lots of water.

Oh yeah...my goal for September is between 4-8 lbs. I know I can lose a lb a week if I am serious about my tracking and stay in range. Good luck with your goal too.

My weigh in days are Wednesdays but I do weigh daily on home scale. It helps me shape up I know it flute rates but it keeps me on my toes. I am working on becoming a KOPS. I like to learn the tops point system but for now I am just journaling. but think I will work the calories till I get acquainted with the tops exchanges. I lost the last two years. I will post my weight on Fridays but do you want me to use the tops scale or the home scale. I use the fitbit so I also track my steps. My dad recently died and I was his caregiver so working on taking care of me. and hard but working on starting to exercise. so I guess I am a turtle too.

Hi Shawn, waiting to hear from you.....
Hey TOPS lady....glad you joined this challenge. My goal is to be down 15 to 20 lbs the end of December...My wedding anniversary is Dec 28 and I would love to weigh 185 lbs. Then I only have about 20 more to go.
I don't know if you are tracking calories or if you are using the TOPS point system...The way to be successful is to keep on doing something consistently that works for you, as long as its healthy. Drink lots and lots of water and try to get moving everyday. My favorite movement is walking. I am a turtle so I go very slowly, but I get there. Am trying to increase my speed but it is slow process.
Lets make a contest....we will share our weight each Friday and have a friendly competition. We will both be winners!!! Just a word...do NOT weigh yourself every day...It is so discouraging. Our weight changes from day to day and it can be very sad to show a gain some days..thus the once a week weigh-in, which I do on Friday.
Hope to hear from Shawn and TOPS lady soon.
Gonna grab a good book and settle down til bedtime.

Hi Shawn,
I want to lose between 5-10 lbs in September. My current goal is to be under 200 lbs by Labor Day...I have about a week and a half and have 2 lbs to reach this goal...I hope I can do it. No, I know I can do it.....
I track my food daily, drink lots of water, and try to walk at least 30 minutes a day...yesterday I walked for an hour and went 1.29 miles which for me was a first.
I had 4 days last week when I did not feel like walking so I didn't. I only lost 1/2 lb this week and I know not walking had something to do with it. Better shape up huh LOL.
My workout of choice is walking which I will do everyday, feeling like it or not. Actually after walking I feel pretty good.!
Well, my coffee is gone and I have to go do some laundry...as I always do, there are 8 people in this house...my son and his wife, 4 kids and hubby and me...always something to do.
