I'm sorry that you're feeling so frustrated, TZAUG2. "Ruts" (or plateaus) can be really tough and so discouraging! This spring, prior to my college reunion, I was working out like crazy and eating on the lower end of my calorie range and didn't lose an ounce for weeks & weeks. I even gained weight! So I can totally relate to how you're feeling right now!

Maybe you're smart not to focus on all this for awhile- just to clear your head. Or maybe just don't weigh-in. (?) Are you eating within your range or could you be eating a little too much or too little? I would think that even if you hit a plateau, the weight would eventually start to come off if you're eating within your range, but I don't know. (Though they say plateaus can last for weeks, even months! Grr...) Starting in early November, when I decided to 'get real,' I was losing so slowly (if at all), but eventually the weight began to come off... It just took some time and patience with the process (on my part). I'm just wondering if it's just a matter of time for you, too. Hugs as I really do how frustrating this roller coaster can be. You're still here though and you're not putting on lots of weight, so that's A LOT better than it could be! (late summer/early fall, I put on more than 10#!!) In the meantime, hang in there, darlin'! And take care of yourself!

As for me, I've lost a total of 7.7 pounds since November 6. (Had a good week: lost 2.1 pounds.) I am hoping to lose 1.3 more by Christmas to make it to the high end of what is my goal weight range! Only 1 week left though with some challenges b/t now and 12/25 (parties, etc.). I'm really trying to stick with it b/c it would be a really good gift to give myself, losing what I had gained this fall! Still won't be down to my low, but close enough to feel satisfied with my recent positive efforts.

Sending good vibes your way! Please hang in there! You are awesome and deserve good health and much happiness!!! xx Do write when you can. I'm wondering how you are doing and feeling! :)

Hi Ashleygille! Sounds like you're moving in the right direction....seems like we're the only ones left here.....so glad to have you as support, but honestly, I'm so bummed, I cannot lose, it's just been ridiculous...thik I'm actually up 2.6 from last post.....so what to do? What I'm thinking of doing it just giving up and not focusing on it so much...the more I try to do things right, the more I gain and feel like crap, which makes no sense to me at all.....help?

Ok, so I lost 1 more # this morning. Is it possible to lose 2.4 more pounds in 10 days? Not sure, but that's my goal. I've been trying really hard and it's coming off slowly, but I'm getting there.

How is everyone else doing? Do you have all your shopping done or haven't you started or are you somewhere in between? Much wrapping left to do? What are your plans for the holidays? Do you plan on splurging on Christmas (if you celebrate)? Or will you follow your usual plan? I've always splurged on Xmas, but with the weight coming off so slowly, I'm reluctant this year. I don't want to spend another month trying to lose what I gained on Christmas! Lol. But I also love all of the food that's served! Do you know what's on your Xmas menu? What are your strategies- if any?

Keep me/us posted!

Grr... I'm really sticking to my plan, but the weight is coming off so slowly. I still have 3.4 pounds to lose in 2 weeks to reach my goal, which I initially thought was well within reach. I'm trying to remain positive, but can't help but feel frustrated again. Maybe a loss will register within the next few days... Crossing my fingers for something! Anything! lol

What's up with the rest of you ladies? Hope you're doing better than I am! xx

A small loss on the scale this morning. 3.6 pounds to lose by Christmas now! 2 1/2 weeks to go. Not sure if it's possible, but I'm REALLY trying! My next weigh-in is in only 4 days and I'm hoping be down 1.6#. It's unlikely, but since the weigh-loss has been slow so far, I'm hoping to have a nice loss one of these days, hopefully Wednesday, 12/11/13. LOL.

I hope everyone else is doing well. Do update us when you have a free moment!

xx

Hello all,
I have had a really good week, but no loss at today's weigh-in. Grr... Not positive, but I think it has something to do with my cycle if you know what I mean. I'm hoping that I lose soon though as I've been working pretty hard for 3-4 weeks now (no splurges, which is unlike me!). I even lost the day after Thanksgiving, but somehow have now gained back that loss. :(

I'm still trying to lose 4.9 pounds by Christmas, 3 weeks from today.

TZAUG2: I had a large cup of coffee (with fat-free Coffee-Mate and Splenda) on Thanksgiving then a large meal (without dessert) in the early afternoon (1:00/2:00ish): Turkey (no gravy), green beans, sweet potatoes and a garden salad with light ranch dressing. I drank lots of diet 7up, too, to remain full. I honestly think this was the best holiday ever as far as making good eating choices. I actually ate enough that I wasn't all that hungry later in the day. I have a feeling that I won't be as "well behaved" on Christmas particularly if I'm able- somehow- to get back down to goal. It's a longshot now... I'm running out of time!

Hope all is well! Let's continue to keep posting through the holidays as this can be a tough (but also an exciting) time of year! Hugs to all!

Hey Ladies, how are you all? How did you do with Thanksgiving last week? I read a great blog on SP on how someone was just focusing on spending the time w/family & friends and not so much the food, so her plan was to make smart choices and if needed a small taste of the good stuff...thought it was powerful & uplifting.....w/keep in mind for the next set of holidays coming.....but 'til then trying to shed 5-8lbs before Christmas....pushing water and walking like crazy..... emoticon

Ashleygille! good job! you will get back to goal for Christmas, I know you will!

Seems we're the only ones left here, hoping to hear from the other gals one of these days, hope you're all well lulucally, lovingmy30s......

I'm going to enjoy the holiday, but going to watch my portions, and eat slow and enjoy! Trying to get a new mind-set again, so going to not fret, but be smart about it. I think what's most important is to be happy and enjoy, we have the opportunity to be with family/friends etc. and enjoy special times, where others are missing people this holiday for the 1st time due to many misfortunes...we still have the ability to enjoy..so with that, wishing you and your family/friends blessings for a beautiful, peaceful Thanksgiving Day!

Happy Thanksgiving Sparks family!!!! emoticon emoticon emoticon

Well, the weight isn't coming off as quickly as I'd like, but I have lost a total a 4.1 pounds as of today. At first the weight wasn't coming off at all, now it's coming off, just slowly...

4 weeks until Christmas. I am trying to lose 4.9 MORE pounds by Christmas Day, that's about 1.25 per week, which seems do-able IF I continue sticking to my plan.

TZAUG2: Don't fret, and always remember, even when you're not losing, at least you're not gaining, right? I had to keep that in mind most of this fall season!

Tomorrow is going to be tricky. Thanksgiving with family and LOADS of good food. I want to enjoy, but I don't want to gain what I've lost (which I could easily do)! Ladies, what is your game plan for surviving Thanksgiving w/o getting totally derailed? I would appreciate any thoughts or advice!

Enjoy the holiday! Hugs!

Wishing all my Spark's family a happy, healthy, good choice & SAFE Thanksgiving!

How is everyone doing??

I had a good weekend calorie-wise, but consumed a lot of salt, so I won't weigh-in until Wednesday.

I can't believe that it's almost Thanksgiving! What are your plans? I'll be with my husband's family.

I hope all is well with everyone! xo

I'm in the re-start mode again~ gained another # back over this last weekend, wasn't a good mental mode wknd here, but trying to stay positive and start again with basics, portion control & I really need to start to drink water, with this colder weather, I'm just addicted to drinking warm things, like more coffee!

Sticking to this plan tho and thanks for you continued support!

I think we're the only ones lately!

Ladies, lulucally & lovingmy30s, where are you? Hope you're both well! emoticon

Ok, so for anyone out there who may be interested... 5 weeks until Christmas!

Finally, this morning I lost... 2#! :) Goal is to lose a minimum of 6 more pounds by Xmas Day! Should be possible if I don't waiver.

I must admit, I was just about to call it quits, then I lost a pound yesterday, another one today!

Hope everyone else is doing well. How's it going TZAUG2/ Hugs! xo

Good here Ashleygille~ not lost anymore, actually gained back 1.2, ergh! had wedding over weekend, been kinda emotional eating a bit, "friend" has been playing cold again, so it's been making me make bad choices~ need to get re-motivated, but have tons of stuff to do, so that should help!

You'll get there, I keep telling myself and I know that slower is better~ keeps chances of keeping it off better in my mind.....

I have been wondering about the other ladies here as well, hope all doing well!
Thanks for your continued support Ashleygille!

OK, so I weigh-in on Wednesday, so I still have 2 days... But as of this morning, I haven't lost an ounce, which remains SO frustrating as I've been doing really well nutrition-wise. I could be exercising more, but still, I should be losing weight. I've got LOTS of cleaning to do today, so maybe that will help a bit. I hope the rest of you ladies are doing better than I am! xoxo

Will let you know how Wednesday's weigh-in goes! Please send positive vibes my way! Lol.

What's new with everyone else?

Hi Lades~ Happy Hump Day!

Well, was so excited last week with the lose and sadly discovered that I put 1# back on, WTH!
ergh!, well, I know I'm eating better and way less snacking, so just plugging away...

Don't get discouraged Ashleygille, like you told me, just keep pushing, your good habits will pay off!

Keep up the good work!

Just wondering how everyone's doing? Hopefully, well!! :)

I got on the scale this morning and STILL haven't lost an ounce! I know this can happen and I'm trying to remain positive, but this is such a frustrating part of the process!

I will continue to do my best and pray that at some point the scale will give in and budge a bit... I just want to see the fruits of my labor and, thus, feel even more motivated!

6 weeks until Christmas Day if anyone else is interested! Not sure if I'll make my Christmas goal at the rate I'm going, but I refuse to stop trying b/c I know that that will only make me feel worse!

xoxo

Don't get discouraged, TZAUG2! Your + efforts will catch up with you soon as it sounds like you've been doing everything right! Sometimes it just takes a bit more time to show up on the scale! Hang in there!

I've had 3 good days. I'm trying to lose 10# by Christmas still, which means I have no room for error! I'm really trying to stay positive and stick to the program, but for some reason, I don't seem to have the enthusiasm that I once did! Maybe I'll start getting more into it if I start seeing results??

How is everyone else doing? Please keep us in the loop!

Shucks... Was doing really well for awhile there, but had an awful weekend!
:(

Anyway, as of tomorrow, 7 weeks until Christmas Eve! And Wednesday, 7 weeks until Christmas Day!

7 weeks x 1 pound/wk = 7 pounds
7 weeks x 1.5 pounds/wk = 10.5 pounds
7 weeks x 2 pounds/wk = 14 pounds

Let's just envision ourselves between 7 and 14 pounds lighter by Christmas! :)

This is a great thread. You'll find wonderful, supportive people here such as Lovinmy30s and TZAUG2! Some other nice ladies post periodically, too.
Welcome and good luck! Feel free to post as much as you find helpful!

Good to hear from you, Lovinmy30s! Glad that you're back at it! Also, hope you're feeling okay... I think the last time you wrote, you were nursing a bum leg... Do keep us posted!

I've remained "on track" for 7 days, TZAUG2! I haven't seen a drop on the scale, but I'm hoping to see one soon. I'm feeling better and a bit more energetic, so that's good. How have you been doing? OK, I hope. I've been thinking about you, going through all this with me! Lol.

To all the other ladies: Hope you're still with us! And are doing well. Miss you and would love an update, good, bad or otherwise! :)

Hey ladies,
I lost you there for a while because of the new set up-this month I am not logging a loss-I think I regained 4 lbs which would bring me back to 172(sigh) but I'm still in. I started running again and planning to track my meals.
Did you know that you can make quinoa for breakfast? it's so yummy esp with coconut milk-happy Saturday guys:)
Thanks for the get well wishes.
More lov.

Good morning Sparks family, Happy Friday!

Ashleygille, sounds like a great plan! I managed to get on the scale this a.m. and am down .3, probably will gain if I breath today, but that the story and I'm sticking to it, LOL Have a busy weekend so hopefully won't be tempted to snack as much as I've been lately. I would like to be down 13#'s by Christmas, would be happy with 10, but I'm going to push, tired of disappointing myself!

Lulucally, Lovingmy30s,hope you are both doing well~
Everyone have a wonderful, relaxing and safe weekend! emoticon

OK ladies, so I "braved it" and got on the scale this morning (Sigh). Not thrilled with the number, but I am determined to move on... So my goal for Thanksgiving is to lose 6 pounds and my goal for Christmas is to lose 10 pounds. Since there's 5 weeks until Thanksgiving and 8 1/2 weeks until Christmas Day, my goals seem attainable IF I can just manage to stick to my program. (What do you think TXAUG2?)

What's new with all of you? Can you believe that Halloween is in less than a week, Thanksgiving in about a month and Christmas in 2 (months)? Wow, I have SO much to do!

Hope everyone is doing well and feeling even better!

Happy Friday!

Ok, TZAUG2! We can do this! Maybe we should both weigh-in when we're feeling brave enough (idk, maybe you already have), and set a personal Christmas goal, whether it's losing 5# or 15# (or whatever). I think picturing ourselves on Christmas Day will help. I know that in my family we all dress up (well, sort of!), and I see lots of people that I don't normally see, so I want to look and feel my best! What's also in the back of my mind is that I was at goal last Christmas, so I don't want everyone seeing my gain (not that they'll say anything, but I'll be well-aware, which feels just as bad)! Not sure if I'll be able to get back down to goal by then, but I'll try my best. At least at the moment, I'm feeling very committed to this endeavor. Maybe we can support one another in this pursuit! Cheers to my Sparks soul-mate! Ha ha.

Thanks Ashleygille for the encouragement! I'm not sure what's going on either, for me I think it's the change of season, just want to go home and get cozy and warm....been trying to convince myself to get to the gym before work, so am going to try to get there tmrw a.m. even for just 20min on the treadmill~ start slow and hoping to form a "good" habit~also haven't been drinking water at all, so trying to get a couple bottles down during work hours to at least jumpstart that again! Yes, I agree, some kind of funk here also, but hey love that I've got you special Sparks peeps! I just want to get myself to where I want to be, the goal is 125#'s, I'm currently at 158, which is way too heavy for my 5ft frame (lost that 1in somewhere, ...or wait I know where it is now and then some, lol) if I would just push myself I too can be looking good for the holidays! LET"S DO THIS, I need all the help I can get! I could have lost these 30# already more than once if I'd keep this going emoticon emoticon emoticon

I'm in the same boat, TZAUG2! Not sure why, I just can't shake this funk that I've been in either. I do okay for a few days then I'm downright awful for a few days! At first I gained a few pounds, but recently added to that, and it really shows being that I'm only 5'2".

I'm thinking that maybe if I focus on the holidays and feeling and looking my best on Christmas that maybe I'll stick to my plan a bit more. 9 weeks from today! I'll start weighing in when I think I can deal with the number on the scale. Right now I'm a bit too down. In the meantime, I'll be striving to eat right and stay active. Sending strength your way!

Hugs to all and stay in touch!

OK ladies... Not sure how much of you celebrate Christmas, but as of tomorrow (Wednesday, 10/23), we have 9 weeks until 12/25! So if we lose between 1 and 2 pounds/week, we could each lose b/t 9 and 18 pounds by Christmas. (1.5 pounds/week=13.5 pounds). Anyone interested in doing our own holiday challenge?? :)

Hey guys,
Hope you're all doing well I was knocked immobile by a minor surgery and was unable to work out for the most part of 2 weeks-but today I walked a gentle mile and did a few weights-so happy to be able to move OMG.
I read all the updates and it looks good from this stand point-have a good one guys,

I bought a new scale. My old one was analog, and I could barely tell one lb from another. On my biggest losers team I got beat out by a fraction of a pound! So I bought a digital scale that measures in .2 lbs. Plus I can read it without my glasses on.

Hi Ladies,
I ran a 5k this weekend with CCLMBR. It was a small race, but fun and fast. It was at Mission San Juan Bautista. That is where parts of Vertigo was filmed. Remember Alfred Hitchcock's Vertigo??

TZAUG2 - Glad the wedding was fun. I just love weddings.
Ashleygille - apple picking sounds fun and yummy!

Ashleygille~ sounds like you're on the right track, let's all just keep pushing! WE CAN DO THIS! Hope you had fun apple-picking,

LULUCALLY-welcome back, glad to hear from you...

Wedding was a blast, my "friend" did go with so it was even better, even though he's says he's not ready for a relationship, we spend time together, so not pushing for answers, just enjoying the time when it happens, but wedding was beautiful! Spent balance of weekend closing up the get-a-way, so lots of purging, packing etc. Its always so depressing to close, but yet there's so much to get done around the house etc. Bittersweet I guess,

Let's do this ladies, we've got plenty of time yet! emoticon emoticon emoticon

TZAUG2: How was the wedding?? Please do tell! And how are you feeling! Hope you had a ball! Hugs!

LuluCally: Glad to have you back! We've missed you! Do keep us posted on the SP Biggest Loser fall challenge! How cool! How did you join? Where would one look? Just thinking that might be fun to do!

I've had 3 good days in a row. :) Trying to lose a minimum of 5#, but the scale's not budging. But ten again, I've been going "off track" more frequently lately. Will keep you posted. Hoping to see a 2.5# drop by next Saturday, but maybe that's a bit unlikely!? Still hoping though. So, 11 days down, 20 remaining in this month's challenge!.... Keep pushing ladies! And if you're struggling with losing, strive to maintain and not gain this month!

Well, off to go apple-picking. :) Happy weekend!

Yikes! Looks like I have a lot of catching up to do here. Sorry for my absence, I just got hung up on other things.

I joined Sparkpeople biggest loser Fall challenge. It's pretty good. They really hold you accountable because you do if for the team, not just for yourself.

Also, I bought a new scale! This one is digital and measures down to .2 lbs.

I'll check in later and try to catch up.

Glad that you're starting to feel better, TZAUG2!! :) I hope you have a great time on Friday with friends and family! Do keep us posted!

Also, thank you for the positive thoughts. I'm trying to think along those lines, too. In the past, I would gain, gain, gain because I would have NO "good" days. This time, while I've gained some weight back, my "good" days have prevented me from gaining even more.

Have a great day, gals! :) 8 days down, 23 remaining!

aww thanks ASHLEYGILLE for the suggestions, a co-worker told me the same thing...I will try that tonight, but am feeling a bit better today, thank goodness! and thanks for the lovely thoughts, I can't wait for this wedding, I'm so happy for him, he was injured and lost part of his leg a few years ago and I am just so happy he's meet someone to share his life with...!

Lovingmy30s, crazy dreamin! ~ Hope you're having a great week!

Ashleygille, don't beat yourself up, I've been having to remind myself, one day at a time, so I've kinda been just giving myself a gold star on the days I do good and those that I mess up on, I just figure tmrw I will improve...sounds goofy, but when I look at the calendar, even though it's only 10/9, I have more stars than not (the last couple days haven't been good with this cold, but other than that) I'm trying to keep that mindset!

Happy Hump Day! emoticon

Oh no, TZAUG2, not a cold!!! Hmm... My husband is a nurse and what he swears by is sweating it out at night. So, I do that now, too, and it really does work (at least that's been my/our experience). So get under LOTS of blankets tonight and allow your body to sweat, sweat, sweat. Hopefully, you'll feel so much better in the morning! Otherwise, it sounds as though you're doing everything you need to do... drinking lots, popping the Cold Eze, etc.! You will look great, of that I am positive, but you want to feel good on Friday, too, so you can enjoy yourself! :) Hugs and wishing you a speedy recovery!!

Lovinmy30s: You are a trip! What a wild dream! I wonder what Freud would say? Hmm... Lol.

As for me... I did great last week (Tuesday-Friday), but I fell off the wagon a bit over the weekend. I was really upset with myself yesterday, but now I'm trying to forgive myself and move on. (I've been having to do a lot of that lately!) Yesterday and today have been better... Still striving to get back down to my goal range by the end of the month, even the high end of my range would thrill me. It may be out of the question, but I'm still trying! Ha ha.

Ok, so 7 days down, 24 (including today) to go!! :) Power on, ladies!! xoxo

Awesome stuff happening here folks-Good morning !!!
Ashleyville and Taug that's the way to go.
So I'm down 2 lbs this month too and looking forward to the rest of the month-not staying away from the scale as I should-lolz
But in other news : I dreamt I was living with a vampire and then got asked out on adate by Chris Brown-yes my old four kids having behind-Lord I must be lacking oxygen in my sleep or as my boy says my writer's mind takes over-either way-it was certainly fun while it lasted.
Happy Tuesday my loves:)

4 days down, 27 remaining. I'm having a good October so far. I'm really trying to stick to my goals this month (as the past 2-3 months weren't great). Checking in regularly helps me stay focused... and honest... I hope you ladies don't mind all of my silly little posts these days! In the past, I've done better, the more connected I am with SP and my peers.

Hope all is well with everyone! Enjoy that lovely fall weather out there!!
