How many miles a day, and how long it ultimately takes you, is strictly up to your discretion. I figure we will begin on May 1, and keep travelling until August 1, see how far we are, and compare mileage. If folks want continue to walk the whole LOTR trilogy, to Mt. Doom and back again, we can keep going. The website I quoted earlier has all the mileage goals calculated for us.
Some of us will start small - I mean, it might take you a week to get to Buckleberry Ferry, and that's OK! We don't want anyone overtaxing themselves.
Bring Aragorn, bring Gandalf, anyone you like. Bring the audio books or the soundtrack from the movies on your walk! Recite the Lay of Luthien in Elvish, if that's your thing.
The thing that I love most about this journey, and in particular sharing it with others, is that it is a fun way to set goals. Also, thinking about Tolkien's works is a lovely distraction from that nasty hill near my house (I refer to it as Fanuidhol)!
