I weigh on Tuesdays so I still don't know the final number, will post tomorrow. I joined a team when I started this challenge as well, it's called "25lbs by XMas '09". Trying to not join any more challenges or teams cause I'm in too many already
Hi everyone. We are here and even though I didn't reach the goal of 20 lbs (I'm about 5-6 away) I'm proud of what I did and what you all did as well. :)
I joined another group to lose 20 by Dec. 20 in case anyone is interested. Here's the link:
I hope we keep in touch. You are all great ladies :)
GOOD LUCK AND THANKS FOR ALL THE SUPPORT!!!

2 lbs away is amazing Taz, well done.
I did not reach my goal. Don't think I lost a single pound. Need to buckle down and try to hit 125 by Christmas. Anyone know a good challenge group?

Klarke - wow you have a great eye for bargains!
Tazia - I'm not making the goal either. I'll be off by maybe 5.5 lbs. Still have a final weigh in.
Iasmom - Don't feel disappointed, I'm off by 5.5 lbs but I'll weigh 15 lbs less then 2 1/2 months ago. I joined this challenge the day it started (Sep 8). Don't know if you all did too. What ever the number, we'll be that many pounds lighter! :o)
Bethany - I find it hard to eat right now with the weather getting cooler. I want to have some cookies or pastries with my coffee! I'm also cold in the mornings to begin my work out but I do it & don't stop till I'm done cause I'll feel really cold & want to stop!
I plan to get my butt in gear these last few days, I plan to weigh in on Tuesday. I know I won't hit that mark but I want to get as close as I can :o)
Leedz, so glad to hear that you've escaped the dreaded plateau, congrats!!

Taz, good job on another lb lost!
I doubt that I've lost a lb since we started this challenge, but it has helped to keep a degree of focus on continuing the effort and not resuming bad habits.
Isamom, I think diet is supposed to be something like 70% or 80% of the weightloss equation, so if you have eating under control, it's a big something right? I find every fall my energy (for diet and excercise anyway) plummets. Do you experience this as well?

LEEDZ09: CONGRATULATIONS on getting over the plateau, I'm glad the Tae Bo worked for you. I love it, its fun!!
Me?? Well not doing so hot :( these last couple of weeks I've slowed down ALOT with the work outs. I thought I had made up my mind about starting fresh this week but for one reason or another I haven't done ANYTHING! The good thing is that I haven't been bad with the eating, so I'm hoping I don't gain, but I'm sure I won't lose!!
I only have 4 days for our challenge and I know I won't make the 20 lbs. Its disappointing, but it won't make me give up...

Weighing in for the week....I'm down 1 pound, but I'll take it after the emotional week that I have had!!! Which means that I need to lose 4 more pounds by Thanksgiving, and I don't see that happening, but I am still on track for my Jan 1st, 2010 goal! So I will be happy that I didn't gain!
How is everyone else doing for Monday's goal date???

Ah forgot to mention that I weighed today. I finally busted that plateau, I lost 1.3 kg. That Tae Bo is working!
Taz, so true lol, we're upset over our clothes being to big!! Never thought I'd see the day & yes last year I was crying over them being to tight! I'm having a yard sale tomorrow, I had one last week, sold some of my fat pants & tops, hopefully tomorrow I'll sell the rest, then maybe I'll buy me a pair that fits me.
Klarke, your idea seems great, my cousin actually sat her son infront of the TV, playstation & all.
I didn't have a problem with mine relaxing. I put underwear on her right away, if she had an accident I'd let her stay that way for maybe 15 min so she wouldn't like it. It seemed to work cause after the first 2-3 times I let her stay wet, every time after that she would tell me she needed to go. She hated the feeling of standing in her wet pants.
A friend here on SP suggested to get together with friends to swap clothes. I have a cousin that is about the size I used to be. I'm thinking of asking her if she'd like to buy or trade (she was smaller before) but I'm afraid maybe she'll feel insulted!
sorry Klarke, no kids.. Though the tv/vcr idea is amazing. wish my mom had done that..
Taz, lol.. you are absolutely right.. "waaah... my clothes are too loose from losing weight...boo-hoo" ROTFL...
It's pure laziness, and a little economy. Too lazy to do the sewing, too poor to do the shopping.. though Klarkes' goodwill tip was a gem too..

Oh no!!!! My clothes are falling off!!! LOL!!! Leedz and Bethany, you two crack me up!!! I understand being frugal and not wanting to spend money on clothes that will only fit for awhile while we lose weight, but I also think that having a piece or two of clothes that fit is very important! I always feel better when other people can see how I have changed. I enjoy the compliments and use their excitement as energy and motivation to keep going to reach my goal! I also like the feeling of my waistband on my pants feeling a little tight, so I know that I cannot sit on my laurels and relax just yet. Baggy clothes are just too comfy, which makes me too comfy in my toughts. But I think that's it's great to have the problem of clothes that are too big!!! I would buy a couple of things in the size you need, and then when you reach your next size, donate the clothes to a friend or Good Will or something. But it still strikes me as funny that you're upset that your clothes aree too big!!! I bet over the Summer your were sad at some point that your clothes were all too small and tight!! How things change!!!! LOL!!!! Way to go! Keep up the good work!!!

Leedz, way to jump back on the wagon! It seems to get harder the longer it goes, but you did it. Good job.
Yes, also noticed my clothes are fitting poorly, but I refuse to alter them until I reach my goal. Hate doing alterations!! lol.. which is a drag when you are looking great, but can't show it off properly due to baggy clothes!

My weekend was bad. Bad with the eating & exercise. Finally on Sunday I decided to stop feeling sorry for me & got my butt moving. I jumped right back into my regular routine. I stayed in my calorie range too, so Sunday was great. I woke up so sore this morning! I did no ST last week & I can feel it today, I'm going forward though, sore & all.
Do any of you struggle with clothes? I had old, smaller jeans that fit me again, but now they're big. I go around with big jeans & tops, looks weird but I think it be a waste to buy clothes that'll be loose later cause I still have 15 lbs to go! Also my winter coats & jackets are too big! I used to be between XL-XXL. Now I'm between M-L. I don't have enough clothes that fit me!! It's so annoying
ugh. Bad weekend. My bike, my ultimate fitness buddy and loyal chaffeur, was hand picked out of a selection of 50 bikes locked up outside my building, to be stolen. jerks. ugh. So now i have to get up 30 minutes earlier, at 4:30 AM(!!!) to have time to workout before WALKING to work. GRR.

LEEDZ09, I'm happy you like it. From what I've read it really helps you out with losing weight and getting more toned too, so I'm sticking to Tae Bo for now on. I also have zumba but I don't know about that one, I've only done it 3-4 times and I have had it for a year...
TAZIA, it sounds like you are ready to make changes for good. I'm happy you found what you needed from Dr. Oz. I have been in your position before and its very frustrating!! But you can always start over the following meal/day. The main point is to see this jorney as something you are doing for the rest of your life and not just a date and a number on the scale.
THANKS EVERYONE FOR BEING SO SUPPORTIVE AND GREAT WEB-FRIENDS!

Tazia, you are so close! Keep going :o) Dr. Oz makes such a good point. If we really want this we can't just expect it to happen by not doing anything. So let's keep going even if we don't want to :o)
Isamom, I did the tae bo from YT yesterday. It kicked my butt! I really broke a sweat! I liked it also! I plan on doing it as my main cardio from now on! :o)
Bethany, I also see myself being more hungry as I work out more. I've thought about taking it down so I won't be feeling so hungry all the time but I'm not sure if it's a good idea.
My main problem is that I'm not reaching for healthy things, my weakness is snack chips!! Since this past weekend I've been having some major cravings, it's getting close to that TOM!! I've been doing so bad with the eating. I just hate not being able to control myself!
All this bad eating is making my colitis act up & it makes it difficult to do a work out. Plus I'm having some major stress issues that's not helping me either.
Thanks for all the talking about working out!! You are really helping me to get off my tired butt and start moving again....even when I don't feel like it!! I watched a show by Dr. Oz last night and he said that the difference between people who make their weight loss goals and people who struggle with them is that the ones who reach their goals exercise even when they don't feel like it. How true!!! So I'm gonna keep that in mind and just do it. So thanks to all of you and Dr. Oz.....I'll be out walking this afternoon when it's not so cold outside!!! My goal for Nov 23rd is 5 pounds away....

thanks for sharing the workout Leedz! I've been working pretty hard the past week or two and subsequently eating a bit more than I should've.. oh well... maybe that program will facilitate a better balance between the two.
Isamom, good luck w/ the 3 lbs goal this week!

LEEDZ09: I was having a hard time finding something interesting to do as a workout and just doing the SP videos were not doing much for me anymore. I had a plateau for a couple of weeks (FRUSTATING) and then last week I did Tae Bo for 2 days before my weigh-in on Friday and I had lost 2 lbs :) I don't know if that was the reason but I think it had something to do with it.
This weekend I was a little bad :) because I was celebrating my DH's Birthday and our anniversary so I'm going to workout hard all this week with Tae Bo and see if I get any good results. I want to lose 3+ lbs. We'll see... I will let you know what happens!

Thanks Bethany :o)
The plan was simple, work out 2 days rest the 3rd, then start over.
Day 1 - 'x' minutes cardio & 'x' minutes of lower body ST
Day 2 - 'x' minutes cardio & 'x' minutes upper body ST
Day 3- Rest... or how about trying a little core exercises or going for a walk
Day 4 - cardio & lower body... ect.
As the days would go by you increase the amount of minutes you do cardio & the ST.
It would also suggest doing SP videos & rewarding yourself. Also some me time doing certain things.
I've thought about giving it another go. Maybe I'll do that :o) Might be the kick in the butt I need.
Leedz, This is a VERY supportive group of members we have here... absolutely. Met some of you in the Hallowe'en challenge and some only in the last week or so... Super impressed and grateful!! don't stress over unchanged weight, sometimes these little loss lulls end with sudden dropped numbers.. when you regain momentum i'm sure you'll start seeing results quickly.. Out of curiosity, what was that workout plan like?

Klarke, Hopefully I'll be there one day!
Isamom, are you finding good results with these videos? I checked out the ones on YT you recommended, haven't started yet but they seem excellent! I'll be starting tomorrow, hopefully.
Tazia, when my DH is home he always wants to eat out! I try my hardest to avoid it! Yesterday he was here but I convinced him to please let me cook something for him!
Bethany, as far as seeing results with these teams I joined, I have lost weigh plus there is A LOT of support. I was part of another team that is called 'Lose 10lbs in 30 days challenge'. I liked it cause it revolved around a sort of workout plan that had worked for the creator of the team. I didn't find a lot of support but I did lose 8 lbs following the work out plan.
I weighed in today, I'm still the same, 2 weeks & still the same. I have been slacking terribly! I've been eating pretty bad plus not working out as much. I've been feeling tired & lazy. It's getting close to that TOM. At least I haven't gained!
Bethany~~Yes!!! I would love a good recipe for soup!!! I made some minestrone last week, but if I have to eat another bowl of it....!!!
Klarke~~Congrats on the new milestone!!!! I am SO proud of you!!!
Isamom~~ROCK that video!!! It is fun and does give a good workout! I have some of his tapes, too and I use them from time to time! I'm happy that you found something to inspire you and change things up a little!!
See!!! This is why I needed you all to keep up with me and move to this thread! You are all awesome!!! I am moving along doing my norm....the weather here is finally getting yucky, so today I will be on the bowflex and just watching what I eat. My main objective today and tomorrow will be avoiding eating out with my hubby, as he is home for the Holiday and wants to have a nice lunch together...somehow I don't think he wants soup.....

LOL... I've been dancing around admitting to yet another McBinge this weekend. Ugh. Paid for it with a good hard run this morning... and ready to focus on finally reaching my goals...
However, I AM determined to try the Tae Bo!! I need a good cardio alternative for when it's too cold to go running outside in Toronto! You are motivating me to get off my tush and get that video! Thank you!

Bethany did you try Tae Bo?
I went to Walmart this morning and got me the Ultimate Tae Bo workout DVD for $10, my core (back and front) was sore all weekend from the tae bo I did last week, so I guess that means its working :)
I hope you guys are doing good.

Hi everyone!! I was away for 2 days and it seems like forever!!! :) So.... I am still babying my mouth. I can't get into the dentist until tomorrow to get the temp put back on, but that's OK. I have learned to love soup over the weekend! I will weigh-in tomorrow but I think I stayed the same...It's almost that time of the month and I feel bloated...probably from the canned soup! Oh well. A friend of mine hasn't seen me in 2 weeks and he said that I was looking great, so i guess you can see some weight loss and definition finally...YAY!!
I would like to write more and comment on all of your posts, but I don't have time this morning if I'm gonna get my workout in, so just know that I'm cheering for each of you and I'm really proud and inspired by the great jobs and good news that I'm seeing here!! Keep it up!!!

Klarke, congrats on the new waistline! So nice to break the 30's! Being able to excercise again will be a huge help, and relief after being laid up so long.
Leedz, are these challenges helpful in reaching goals or what?! I love them. fingers crossed that this challenge gets us all to the 20lb mark! If I am successful here, I will be 8lbs from my goal weight, which would be soooo good.

On YT?!! I'm definetely looking for it & trying it!!
Bethany, I have slowed down. In the beginning it was 3lbs, 4 lbs. Now it's 0.5 lbs, 1 lbs. But I'm happy with anything. I too find that I have softened now that I'm more fit. I don't break a sweat as much anymore with my cardio routine, maybe this is way I've slowed down. I'm looking for other things to try. I want to start running but I need to buy some proper shoes for that.
Short term goals: this month I aimed for 4-5 lbs, last month I tried losing 6, but lost 4. I also joined a team a while back to lose 25 lbs by X-Mas. I'm 8.5 lbs away from this challenge goal. If I make it, I'd be 5 lbs away from the 25 lbs challenge goal. If I were to make that goal I'd be 2 lbs away from my overall goal! But it's not really about the number on the scale for me, it's about fitting into this old pair of jeans I have. I just want to get into them :o)
oooo... it's on YouTube?! Amazing. Watch out weekend, I'm trying Tae Bo! Thanks Isamom!

BETHANY6, I'm not too cordinatated either, but I did pretty good with Tae Bo, there was only a few times where I wasn't really following but for the most part it was easy. I could feel the work out in the first 10 min.
I was doing it from youtube, its 45 min. long but I could only do 30!! You should try it!!

Isamom, congrats on the 2lbs down! fantastic. So, Tae Bo, is it something that someone w/ little to no co-ordination can do? (I am VERY unco-ordinated..) Enjoy the festive weekend, and good luck w/ keeping your meals on target!
Leedz, is that a lot of time? lol... seems like next week! I am finding it hard to stay focused as I get more fit.. The urgency is somewhat softened as the mirror gets kinder.. but I am losing weight VERY slowly now, so it's actually harder than it was at the beginning. You're on the sweet side of your weight loss journey also, judging by your ticker, how are you finding it so far? Aside from this challenge, what are your short term weight loss goals?

I finally lost a little more this week. 2 lbs to be exact. I tried doing Tae Bo for the last couple of days and I think that helped me! It really made me sweat so I'm going to stick to Tae Bo for now. I have a "festive" weekend so I'm crossing my fingers that I don't get carried away and gain!! GOOD LUCK EVERYONE... WE HAVE 18 DAYS LEFT!!!

TAZIA, I hope you get that fixed. I imagine it must be so hard to eat like a baby! Bethany, you're so close to your goal & you still have 2 1/2 months!! Do you find it harder to lose weight now that you're closer? I'm 7 kilos away & it has slowed a bit :o(
my sis passed out on a stairclimber a few years ago and busted her whole upper jaw - consequently she had a temp tooth for a while before receiving her permanent implant. She seemed to feel it helped a lot while waiting for the implant. good luck, hopefully it stays put this time.

Bethany, for cardio I am walking alot outside for now....at least until the weather gets crummy here. In fact, I have a date with my girlfriend to walk today during her lunch hour! :) But in the Winter I use the eliptical machine I have. I'm thinking that I might also join a gym so I can use the treadmills or swim, too....just so I don't get bored with doing the same thing every other day!
So I got my broken tooth fixed yesterday and the temporary came off within the first couple of hours so now I'm back to babying my mouth. Only soft foods for me again until at least Monday! I have been eating alot of green beans and mashed potatoes....ughhhh! I hope that when the temp is back on I can chew better!

It does look daunting...good for you for figuring it out! I find cable machines intimidating.. worried I'll end up hanging from them instead of working out.. lol... But what a great resource! How do you get your cardio in? Or does the Bowflex give a cardio workout as well? and Leedz, turning 30? So am I, in January... Which means I need to get to 120 in two in a half months to meet my "goal" eep! LOL.. Though I'll be happy to get under 130 again... for the first time since I was 15...

So you have equipment to work out with at home? Lucky!! But it's always like this, I remember when we used to have a stationary bike & a treadmill, all they were used for was to dry towels, now I wish we still had them... My goal for next summer is also to have tone arms, I'll be turning 30 & I plan on having a big party, so I want to look nice. My DH bought me a resistance band so I use that for now :o) I got my craving with the Halloween candy under control but mostly cause I already ate the ones I like
