Like many others on here cheese is my guilty pleasure. I do not eat meat due to GI problems just fish & poultry, therefore I have grilled cheese, peanut butter etc. I am trying to cut back on the amt. of cheese though.

Do note that I only use the following occasionally:

- Sour cream
- Good chocolate
- 2% milk (although I don't have glasses of milk or cereal anymore... Just a splash in my tea)
- Tesco chicken caesar wrap
- Tacos (made at home)

And I continue to have cheese, just in smaller/less frequent quanitities. I really like the Light Laughing Cow triangles, they usually kill my cheese cravings right off so I find I'm not eating regular cheese unless I make tacos.

I also use coffee whitener every time I have coffee, which is once a day or less. I do use sweetener instead of sugar, though.

Eggs, full fat cheese, real mayo, GOOD chocolate.
Always in small quantities of course ;)
And skim milk is just gross.
I would rather have a tiny little bit of something GOOD rather than a whopping ton of the lightened up alternatives.

Lots of comments on full fat cheese, eggs, and being mindful of caloric intake, eat less of them. I agree.

I never use artificial sweeteners. I use hardly any sugar or white flour.
I never use margarine, I use butter, olive oil or coconut oil.
I seldom eat deli or cured meats.

My recovery drink from hard workouts is chocolate milk, it has protein, energy from milk sugar (lactose) and fat and from the chocolate, the perfect electrolyte balance of minerals, vitamins, and is 90% water, so also rehydrates.

Good quality coffee. No decaf. Some people say coffee is bad. Others say its good. I know it's dehydrating but I compensate for that by drinking extra water. Decaf just tastes bad to me.

Butter

Full-fat cheese (I tried low-fat or no-fat cheese once and found it horrible. I have a small parrot who has always LOVED cheese. I offered him a small piece of the low-fat and he immediately threw it to the floor. I took that as a cue.)

Dark chocolate

Homemade bread (I slice the loaf and package up two slices per baggie and freeze them all. Gives me good portion control.)

I have 1% milk,it is healthier then non fat milk. I have 1 glass per. day.Pharmacist advised me to eat all other full fat foods as my bad cholesterol is below the minimum the body requires and my good cholesterol is too low, good fat too low, bad fat o.k. So now off of most low fat foods as it is effecting my organs and brain. I am also ordered from the pharmacy and hospital to raise blood pressure to 120/80 by adding 1 teaspoon of salt daily. Without salt it can go to 80/50 and be dangerous for organs and brain. My so called healthy diet is effecting my body. A certain amount of cholesterol you are born with, I guess I was one born with very low cholesterol, some are born with high cholesterol, some in between. So, now on 32% fat,18% protein and 50% carb.diet. I will enjoy my food more but have to change diet to eat less food. I was advised to drink a bottle of Gatorade before exercise as my electrolites are too low for exercise, and need some sugar before exercise,so called sport drinks with caffeine are unhealthy, after 60 minutes of exercise the healthiest food to eat immediately is 2 pieces of bread,2 tablespoons peanut butter and 2 tablespoons of jam that has sugar in it. The body needs instant energy from sugar after exercise and protein to build up the muscle. Water is advised for during and after exercise. So my new diet started Saturday. I also have been advised to start yoga and less cardio because I have a problem with the artery's in my legs and pain in my heart. Heart tests show normal. I see a specialist soon. What food is healthy for some, is not for other, everyone needs blood tests to confirm what food to eat, you can have a cholesterol test to see how much you are born with.

I don't compromise on ANY foods!

I use butter, and real (Irish/English) Cheddar, full-fat cream cheese and sour cream. I have SMALLER portions, and balance out the calories by eating a lot of vegetables.

Losing and/or maintaining weight is about eating healthily in moderation, it is not a punishment.

And I'm totally on the bacon train with you guys. I don't know how people think turkey bacon can even compare.

I also do not like turkey bacon; center cut 'real' bacon is better nutritionally than regular bacon so we choose that in our house.

I don't eat processed foods, even if they are 'low" calorie or low fat anymore. So goodbye SkinnyCow, lf cheese, etc. If I eat ice cream, I eat a modest serving of the real deal upon occasion; if I eat cheese, same thing. Portion control over substitutes.

Peanut butter. As far as I am concerned, there are no alternatives. (I know they exist, but I refuse to acknowledge them... unless the alternative is a different nut butter.)

Whole eggs. Never understood the egg white thing. I just don't like them.

Chocolate and ice cream. If I'm going to splurge on these, I'm getting the good stuff.

Ooh! Fully agree on the butter as well! I don't use it for much more than baking, but it's only ever real butter in my world. That's something I got from my mum, for sure. My dad grew up with margarine, but mum is adamantly real butter only.

Peanut butter - I have to use regular, full fat, extra smooth peanut butter

cheese - has to be full fat but I'm careful of how much I have

bread - I love fresh baked white bread and ciabatta bread but again, I try to be careful of how much I have (this is my kryptonite)

butter - I can't use margarine

"And egg whites alone have a funny texture and the thinking that egg yolks are bad/elevate your cholesterol is outdated so anyone who tells you otherwise should read some more recent research."

I agree with egg white... remind me of snot!

But... I am one of those who cannot eat egg yolks as they DO elevate my cholesterol. When I stopped eating my 3 or 4 eggs a week (controlled diet under the supervision of several health professionals), my cholesterol dropped 30 points.
I only use EggBeaters or a generic equivalent now.
That thinking is not outdated for me at all... and I am not alone in that.

I will not compromise:
real unsalted butter
Hellmann's mayo
Heinz ketchup
and many more!

I totally agree with lots of this! I don't really drink milk, if I do it's full fat. The strange slightly blue color of skim milk is off putting. Frozen yogurt has it's places, just not as a replacement for ice cream, that being said I might actually prefer gelato. Turkey bacon is indeed a sad comparison to pork belly. And egg whites alone have a funny texture and the thinking that egg yolks are bad/elevate your cholesterol is outdated so anyone who tells you otherwise should read some more recent research.
I eat LCHF so don't need to cut out the fats thankfully but don't eat many sweets, I allow myself a square or 2 of dark chocolate and some fruits when needed but for the most part I haven't had to give up anything that I really really love

I'm NOT prepared to drop the amount of fruit I eat. I eat tons of it and have for many MANY years, and look out anybody who says not to each so much. (and yes, there HAVE been some - LOL!)

This came out of a conversation a friend and I were having today, in which I mentioned that no matter what anyone tells me about skim milk, I'm absolutely not having it. I will gladly take the extra calories and fat in 1% over the watery milk version that is skim.

This then moved into:
1. Cheese - 2% milk cheese = good, fat free cheese = gross, and
2. Ice cream (delicious) vs. frozen yogurt (disgusting).

From there, we compiled our own lists. Below is a portion of mine:
3. Bacon is wonderful; turkey bacon is an abomination -- but turkey sausage and ground turkey are fantastic.
4. I've happily given up nearly everything fried -- more for digestive reasons than for weight control ones, but it certainly doesn't hurt the latter -- but I will eat my weight in potato pancakes given half a chance.
5. I'll bake stupidly delicious, healthy AF oat bran muffins with egg whites only, but I will not ever leave the yolks out if I'm making eggs for breakfast (or dinner...don't judge me!).
6. I will only ever buy fresh brussels sprouts. They're more expensive, but frozen sprouts are mushy and awful; it's worth the extra cost.
7. There are not enough "evers" in the world to explain how never I will use fake maple syrup; it's the real stuff or naked pancakes. End of story. I am so adamant about this that I actually take maple syrup with me when I meet my friends for brunch because most places don't have the real deal.

So, Sparkers, what are the compromises you're *not* willing to make when it comes to your food choices? I'm really interested to know what other people's hard lines are.
