Congratulations for your confirmed habit of preferring unprocessed food!
Being a real Southerner, I still cornmeal my fish, but I use a non-stick skillet sprayed with Pam to brown it. My husband prefers fish this way, too. Yeah, I heard Pam isn't good for you, but neither is all that oil I used to fry fish in.
You guys are all right, healthier foods start tasting better after some time. It was hard for me to ween off of processed foods, but now i'm used to the healthier options. To go back to something processed is ever HARDER! I do like Mcdonalds now and then, maybe once every 3-4 months... if that... but man to eat it consistently like I used to... makes my brain and stomach hurt. I also noticed my body was responding better to the healthier stuff, my hair/nails/skin, all looked and felt better
I'm with you on the real-food bandwagon! I like breaded filets, but I make my own with fresh fish and nut meal. Heck, go to a nice seafood restaurant and you'll pay extra for that kind of treatment! Do it at home. Your body will thank you.

It is amazing how quickly our taste buds can change when we switch from processed foods to real foods in their natural state. I am surprised at how sweet and salty things now taste and I really notice how artificial many processed foods taste. Not really much harder to make the real thing vs out of a box or can, it is more about taking a bit of time to plan your meals. After a few weeks it becomes easier and everything just tastes so much better. Of course the health benefits really are what make it worth while for me. I feel so much better when I eat real foods, even the high calorie dishes like mac and cheese are just that much better homemade than from a box. Processed foods make me hungry an hour after I eat them where as whole foods don't seem to trigger the same cravings and hunger that junk food does. If I eat a big store bought muffin or a pop tart for breakfast, I am hungry and craving crap all day long. Have a nice bowl of oatmeal with some blueberries or some scrambled eggs and I am good for hours. The difference is really amazing but it takes a few weeks for your body to adjust and for you to notice the difference. I can't imagine ever eating at McD's or KFC again. I live on the West Coast of British Columbia and fresh fish is abundant and readily available, therefore fish sticks are something I have never eaten or desired.

It's good that you are developing a taste for whole real food instead of highly processed foods! I haven't had fish sticks in a long time (make my own crusted fish filets), but I can't imagine liking them, especially when I look at the ingredients list.
Trying macaroni & cheese from a box was a rude awakening for me, after eating homemade foods for a while. It was so salty and fake tasting; I couldn't have more than a couple of bites! Can't believe I used to like it so much.
After eating healthy for a while now, I have a taste for healthier foods, and the processed stuff doesn't appeal to me as much. But I just had some frozen fish sticks and now my stomach hurts, not only because of what's in the actually food, but even the idea of it and looking at it come out of the oven... bleh. I used to love frozen and processed foods, but now that I know better, its such a turn off
