I do it occasionally. I don't force it, it's just that sometimes I'm not hungry, and I wait to eat until I am. Sometimes that may be a day, or half a day... and I will admit to a few instances when I just decided that I wasn't going to eat - but it wasn't any kind of sufferance. It helps to turn off my appetite for a while when I'm past it. Even so, I don't think I'd follow any of the more extreme advice for days of fasting. That seems counterproductive to me. A day, or some hours, yes. Half a week? well... maybe not!

...the problem with people these days is
they've forgotten we're really just animals ...

That is how I live my life - It's just how I eat - from about noon until 5 or 6:30 (rare maybe 7:30 if running late).

That's how it's been when I was overweight. Under weight. Normal weight.

There is nothing "magical" about it. Eat when you are hungry.

Do not eat more calories than your body burns - that's how you lose weight. Simple.

The best exercise in the world is to bend down and help someone up.

There is nothing magical about intermittent fasting, but if it fits your lifestyle then it's a fine approach. Remember that Calories in- Calories out is what causes weight loss, so if intermittent fasting helps you eat fewer Calories then it might help you lose weight. If this is just another fad to jump to then it won't make a difference unless you think you can stick to it long term.

I have done it myself for over a year and can say that it was nice to not have to worry about eating all the time (I did 16 hour fast every day and then 8 hour eating window with 3 meals). However, it doesn't fit my lifestyle anymore so I didn't try to force it. Also, be aware that it can create a binge-eating mentality in some people after the fast is over. If you think you might be susceptible to disordered eating, then you may not want to try it.

Anyone tried intermittent fasting? I am deciding whether or not to give it a try.
