You have been given some great advice.
Do get back in touch with your doctor and describe how you are feeling and how you are feeling about food and your weight and your weight gain. There are professionals who can help you obtain a healthy weight and have a positive relationship with food. Ask your doctor for a food counselor or dietitian or therapist. You could also call your local hospital and ask to speak to a dietitian. The dietitian will know what services are available in your area to help.

I understand you're getting back on track, but please see your doctor anyway, OK?

Pretty please.

I agree with the previous posters. You need to see a doctor, and if your regular doctor says you're fine, ask for a referral to someone who specializes in eating disorders. Your anxiety is off the charts and if your periods stopped, your hair started falling out, and you had suicidal thoughts, all is not well. Don't focus too much on the scale or your weight right now. You can take care of those things when you get the underlying issues straightened out. The number on the scale is not important, your health is what's important.

you need to get yourself on some medications to help with depression, not only that hypo/hyper thyroid is very hard to diagnose and allot of your symptoms that you describe being cold, hair falling out is indicative of that possibility sounds like you need to be assertive with your gp because some brush it off as nothing and it sounds like it defiantly is something more serious going on here

Ok hunny...breathe, ok? Just relax for a minute.

You really need to go back to the doctor and have a long, frank talk about what is going with you. That's first off.

Now, you did not gain 8 pounds due to food (calorie consumption), most likely. It's probably water weight from the sodium in the foods you ate, ok :)

And yes, you will be a mess until you do have a healthy relationship with food and your body image.

I'm not going to ask your height/weight combination, cause I don't think that is what is important. What is important is that you resume therapy, ok?

The best exercise in the world is to bend down and help someone up.

If your menstrual cycles have stopped, you need to be seeing your doctor. Also, be perfectly candid with him about your psychological issues, such as suicidal thoughts. You need to be seeing him (or her) sooner, not later. Like tomorrow or this week at the very latest.

It took a while to have the word 'eating disorder' come to your mind. Maybe your doctor is actually using those words with you, or maybe he hesitated to use those words without knowing more. Does he know your menstrual cycles have stopped, for example?

Have you seen a psychologist or therapist about this or just your doctor?
