It might, but not in the way you think.

In and of itself, it won't cause you to lose weight. However, hot beverages have been shown to be a bit of an appetite suppressant, and if you have a cup of hot tea instead of a sugary snack or a high-calorie soda, it can help you lose weight by virtue of being tasty and fewer in calories than other alternatives, and warm to help your stomach think it's fuller than it is.

I personally love my green tea, but I use my tea drinking time as a way to decompress and try to let go of some of my stress. Considering that negative stress can be linked to weight management issues taking up the practice of letting go during tea time could have a good impact on your weight loss. But as Becky said, the tea itself probably won't do much.

Bottom Line: green tea really won't help with weight loss in the long run.

Hey there Manystyles, I have found that any way you can get more water into your diet will help with weight loss but my trainer tells me that any drink with caffeine in it will slow down your metabolism. So try for decaff or herbal teas to get your 8 - 8 oz's a day emoticon
