In and of itself, it won't cause you to lose weight. However, hot beverages have been shown to be a bit of an appetite suppressant, and if you have a cup of hot tea instead of a sugary snack or a high-calorie soda, it can help you lose weight by virtue of being tasty and fewer in calories than other alternatives, and warm to help your stomach think it's fuller than it is.
