Not sure, Most hot beverages make me feel full faster when drank with a meal. I often have unsweetened tea or coffee in between meals that curbs hunger. The pills never seemed to work.

According to the Natural Medicine Comprehensive Database there is currently "not" enough research evidence to support green tea and weight loss. More studies are needed. Here is a great link with all the "actual studies"

Supported studies from the University of Marland Medical center...see link

See weight loss section...Some researchers think that substances in green tea known as catechins are responsible for the herb's fat-burning effect.

A Chinese study published recently in the Archives of Internal Medicine showed a 46%-65% reduction in hypertension risk in regular consumers of oolong or green tea, compared to non-consumers of tea.

Research at Huston's Methodist Hospital reveals that green tea can cut painful inflammation

In a study conducted by the Journal of Nutrition, it showed that by drinking 4 cups of oolong tea per day, there was an average of a 2.2 pound weight loss in a 6 week period!
Oolong is known as an anti obesity tea or weight loss tea. So go ahead and give yourself a little boost....Too much oolong tea, more than five cups per day, can cause side effects because of the caffeine...so don't overdo

According to Aberystwyth Univesity in Wales, sipping 8 ounces of chamomile tea with each meal can cut blood sugar surges by 25%, even if you have full blown diabetes. Chamomile Tea helps the body break down sugars before it can build up in your bloodstream...says Robert Nash Ph.D and lead scientist.

I just saw my Orthopedic Surgeon and he told me to drink green tea to cut my inflammation .

I drink a lot of green tea because it's nice, and if it helps with weight loss, all the better. But in practical terms it isn't going to help me lose weight. I drink it between meals to help my stomach stay full; it goes well with a half ounce of almonds for a snack. I also like the mild level of caffeine in it. It keeps you perky without making you nervous.

Bottom Line: green tea probably won't help.

"while on a diet does green tea help with weight lost?"

Only if you are drinking it instead of eating junk calories.

I just read an article on SparkPeople that says the jury is out on this one. Seems to be only middling evidence that it helps. I do drink green tea however as I've read in other places that it does help. Regardless of weight loss help it has other attributes that are helpful to our health.

Hope this helps:
"It has been proven that green tea can help the body burn calories and fats, and this is the reason why it is used as an ingredient in popular diet pills. Although drinking green tea does not provide fast results like some other weight loss products, it can help you lose weight without compromising your health.

Green tea can only accelerate metabolism by 4%, and this amounts to only 100 calories a day, which does not contribute a lot to weight loss. If you need to lose 20 lb or 30 lb in a short time, green tea is not the best option for you. However, green tea can be used to maintain a healthy weight, and it can also bring lots of other benefits to your body."
