DLMTLE--
I see that you brought this thread back to life; so I am addressing your question.

I assume you do not have diabetes; but someone in your family does. You are wondering if it is safe to eat the same type of meal plan as the person with diabetes. I assume you are wanting to use our Sparkpeople diabetes meal plan??

This meal plan would be safe for others in your family to use. Now the portion sizes of the foods may need to be slightly adjusted to meet specific calorie needs. Our SP diabetes meal plans have about 50% of the calories coming from carbohydrates (using mostly healthy types of carb containing foods). And the other 50% comes from protein and fat. Yes, this type of food distribution would work well for others.

Make an appointment with your Dr. ASAP.

It MIGHT be that your medication may need adjusting, and it may be that your need further tests or referral to a Specialist. You should also ask for a referral to a Registered Dietitian to help you with your diet.

Good luck,
Kris

What numbers are you getting and how long after eating? Are you on antidiabetics or insulin? I would consult my doctor's office asap and be completely open about your situation and concerns.

is it safe to eat the same meal plan as my diabetic family member? I am thinking it might be helpful if I can set up my plan here that way so I can figure out what I can cook for him. I'd appreciate an answer from one of the experts. thanks.

If your levels keep dropping then you do need to talk with your endro to figure out an action plan that will prevent this from happening or take it in into consideration and help you work with what is happening.

I know I go low at work daily because of how physical it is (its why I always have a bottle of regular pop on hand to keep me within normal range (mmol 7 to 10) other wise I'm hitting as low as mmol 3 during work and am not very functional when I need to be around the tykes.

You might talk with your endro about adjusting your insulin levels or talking to your diabetic dieition and finding better options for keeping your glucose levels elevated during workout periods or after a workout if that is what is sending you low.

Keeps dropping to "what" level??

I assume you have diabetes, since his is the title of your thread.

If you are concerned that your blood sugar is dropping too low; then you should be contacting your doctor? You need testing and the medical and dietary interventions to assure safe blood sugar.
