Agreeing with JUSTIMEEM. I tend to eat when I am bored so when I find myself standing in front of the fridge or pantry, I go clean something, put things away or start sewing. Sewing works wonders because I can sit for hours working on something. It's easy to lose track of time and no binge eating!

I have found that being physically active can distract you from binge eating.
I am not talking about fitness but actual physical work: rearranging the closet (clothes), clean the house, clean the dishes and make room in the kitchen by rearranging things or throw old stuff out.
Usually putting things in order (literally) distracts the attention from food and somehow helps.

The longer I go in this process, the more I can point out when I'm heading to the kitchen because of my stress or insecurity about a situation. I keep a journal tucked away next to my favorite chair in the house, and when I start to feel those things boiling up in me, I have told myself "this is a journal issue" and worked to write things that I am feeling down. Once I've written it out, I often feel better and that response of turning to food has subsided.

I'm not 100% perfect about it, but I have gotten better at putting my emotions in a healthier spot. I also realize that keeping moving is another way to work out the nervous energy whether it be going out for a walk or getting into a cleaning project in the house.

You had a bad day, don't give up!! This is a learning process that each individual works through in their journey.

I have logged sooo many hours with therapists, yet I occasionally still binge. I was malnourished in childhood. Never weighted more than 93 pds till my early thirties. Even at 9 months pregnant I only weighted 113. I have accepted that my siblings and I didn't deserved being abused, but when I feel alone in the world I binge on bakery goods.

I face the same problem as you do: emotional eating.
Usually I am very disciplined with my diet and exercise. But when I am down or I hit a low point I resort to food.
(And yes, I too have some childhood unresolved baggage).

I haven't been to a counselor (yet) and I haven't found a solution by myself (yet).

I agree with Becky. Baggage from the past (and present) can cause a lot of these sorts of issues, unfortunately, but fortunately a counselor who specializes with these sorts of things can help you considerably with overcoming t his.

I do not know how often this is happening.
But it sounds like you are using food to deal with (or comfort yourself) a childhood issue....
Would it be beneficial to talk with a counselor??

Am I the only one? Feeling badly last night so I binged and ate a WHOLE cake. I know its about childhood issues and I hate myself afterwards
