Yes, there have been recent studies showing there is no magic about 8 glasses of water a day. Many of us get a good deal of our fluid needs through the foods we eat. And each individual will have individual needs as well.

yes - it is fluid. The push re the water is more because it is calorie/additive free. Also, you don't HAVE to drink 8 cups/glasses if you don't need to. Be guided by thirst and the colour of your urine. Ideally it should be a pale yellow. If it is clear you are generally drinking enough.
