And keep in mind that "water" actually means *metabolic water*. That's the water you provide in drinks and foods which give your body the basics it needs for physiologic functions. Simply the water you drink, with or without additives, isn't the total amount. Juicy fruits, desserts like gelatin or ices, etc, also figure into that capacity.
If I'm tracking liquids drunk, I always consider that a minimum, not a total. I try to guesstimate a bit from the foods too, although I know that's not completely accurate either.

I used to lose track of how much water I drank throughout the day. So now I take four 16 oz. bottles of water and mark the caps: 2, 4, 6, and 8. If I make green tea, I just use some of the water from my marked bottles. This has helped me a lot.
