I don't view things as cheating but I do know I have to stay away from "trigger foods" or it will easily turn into a binge. All sweets, cookies, cakes, chocolate, ice cream etc and chips of any kind seem to flip a crazy switch for me. Avoiding any and all of those things is the only way I can stay on track. It doesn't seem like a sacrifice because I don't really need those things and they lead me down a destructive path. So I try never to "cheat" because I just have no resolve.

The whole concept of "cheating" is counter-productive to me!! I am focusing on healthy eating as a Lifestyle--- either I want it, or I don't---and ALL my days, times and meals are part of that.
Does that mean I don't include any foods others might consider off limits? NO I enjoy food, and include whatever I like...! Does that mean I eat as much of "those" foods as I used to? Definitely "NO!" ---I've learned they aren't good for me, don't fit well into my nutrient ranges, and I limit them into small portions. And enjoy them!!

So No, Don't "Cheat"---plan it, track it, enjoy it! After all its only yourself (and all your other hard work) you are defeating otherwise....

I never think of having cheat days because every day I track everything I eat and I consider it all part of my life style now. When I have something that is not quite so healthy, I make sure I track it and I still try to stay within my calorie range. I go over now and then.

Try not to think of it as cheating. There's nothing wrong with building in an occasional treat, ut if you cheat, you're only hurting yourself.

I never "cheat" per se, but I do have treats. I like to think of my daily (or weekly) calories as a budget. So I spend most of my calories on nutrient dense foods with a little left over just for fun. If I splurge over the budgeted snack calories I cut back somewhere else to make it fit. And I make the splurges count. I won't have any old chocolate or ice cream just because it's available. I get the best chocolate or my favorite ice cream and have just a little.

The question really is: Is it stalling your weight loss?

You are so close to your goal, have you shifted into almost maintenance (very slowly losing)?

I ask, because that is what I am doing. These last few pounds for me, I am treating kinda maintenancy (I know, there is no word). Which means, I am losing them slowly - allowing myself more food - yet still losing.

Sometimes I do feel like I am cheating, still - but then I remind myself that at this stage I am looking at month goal - my aim is to lose a pound or so a month. I'm not "binging", just eating sometimes more - and that is life, real life.

The best exercise in the world is to bend down and help someone up.

I've never defined my eating as "cheat" or "not cheat". Literally nothing is taboo for me, though there are things I tend to avoid, for many reasons.

I am just curious how everyone deals with "cheat" days, meals, etc. I used to eat super clean throughout the week and have one whole cheat day (This day could also accurately be called "My Date Night with Ben & Jerry".) .

However, after being at this for about two years at this point I have found that I have shifted to make smaller "cheats" fit into my daily calories and macros.

Is there anyone here who manages to not cheat for long periods of time? Do you feel like you fail when you cheat?
