All skim milk has skim milk powder added which of course does not have to be listed. Otherwise skim would look and taste even more watery and look bluish in color. This is also the reason why skim milk is much higher in sugar (lactose) than full-fat milk.

The only additives I've ever seen in regular skim milk are vitamins.

I prefer 2% these days, but I also use lactose-free milk, so the additives and stuff are in there. Otherwise, we alternate between whole and 2%. I won't go lower than that, because the non-fat and skim stuff taste like vaguely milk-flavored water to me.

I like whole milk, but like butter, triple cream cheese, sour cream, full-fat yogurt and heavy cream even better. I'll have about 1/4 cup of cream in each cup of decaf I drink. I get my dairy from non-homogenized raw milk, grassfed cows that live a healthy life outdoors, which means that the food has a much higher nutrient value including much more omega 3 fatty acids and CLA's (conjugated linoleic acids). It's worth the extra money I spend.

I can't drink whole milk. The smell of it is repulsive to me.

I don't drink milk - I drink my coffee black. But I do eat non-fat cheese (cottage and cheddar). I don't think there are additives to those.

Just looked: there are. Which additives are bad? I eat non-fat cheese because it's lower in calories and high in protein.

The last time I drank whole milk, it tasted like cream to me. I can't say I like drinking cream - there's definitely a viscosity there.

I don't drink a lot of milk, but when I do, I like it to be whole milk. Especially for smoothies. There is something satisfying about it. It's got good "mouth feel" as they say. Nice to see that there are some benefits to it other than just the taste and satisfaction.

I've been a fan of whole milk most of my life because 2% and skim just tastes and looks watery. Then, as I got older, I realized that our body needs Vitamin D to aid in absorbing (probably not the right word...) calcium efficiently so PLUS 1 for whole milk again!

I switched to Almond Milk a few years back though for my dairy needs, except for hot chocolate. I've found that I don't miss milk...except for hot chocolate. HAHA!! I do have to add a fat source to my smoothies now though so I can absorb all the fat soluble vitamins but that's a very minor thing and is easily rectified with peanut butter. :D Mmm...peanut butter.

I know our family made the switch several months ago. There is something filling in adding the whole milk to my breakfast. The additives and other things done to skim or non-fat milk are just NOT worth it!
