I have had great success with green smoothies. I adopted the smoothie because my job schedule impeded my ability to maintain a balanced diet. My issue is rotation of ingredients to get the best balance over the long haul. I follow the formula of half greens and veggies, fruit and usually four nutritional boost foods. I have bins with walnuts, pecans, cashews, almonds, chia seeds, flax seeds, sunflower seeds, sesame seeds, pumpkin seeds, goji berries, cocao nibs and maca powder. Generally, I choose one nut, chia seeds, flax seeds, and one additional boost for each smoothie. I have just started adding protein powder after workouts. I have found sites with recipes, books with specific information regarding the best ingredients for certain issues, but nothing that addresses rotating ingredients to make sure you get the right balance. I try to rotate as best I can but I am really flying blind. I would appreciate any information anyone has on this subject. I am interested in the best rotation for all three components: greens/veggies, fruit and boosts.
