For me, personally, I never drink soda. I drink water or tea. I also can't drink diet (the artificial sweeter gives me headaches).
Do you use the tracker? That might give you incentive enough to stay away from soda (cause it would have to fit in with you daily "budget"), or you might find that you can fit one in per day and still stay in your range.
Do you get your 8 glasses of water in a day? I wouldn't count soda as water - but that's just me. You can try those crystal light things to add to water if you don't like plain water.
The easiest way to not slipping up, for me, is to not have it in the house to begin with. If you need to, do a clean sweep of your house and throw out all the crap. If it's not there, you wont eat it!! When going to the store, stay to the outer edges - that's primarily where you will find your fruits, veggies, meats, whole grain breads, dairy. Stay out of the snack food isle!!
Don't waste time feeling guilty - it doesn't burn any calories!!
