I found that at first I just had to set the alarm and keep setting it until I got up. after a few days the energy it gave me was enough to get me up. It really does give me a good energy boost for the day so now getting up isn't that hard, but if I miss two to three days I am back to square one having trouble again.

try starting out with exercise at home - give it 10 minutes. Often you'll stick with it and go for 30 minutes or more.
think of it this way - exercise time seems to move so S L O W. So if you workout everyday while you are off work, you'll feel like your days lasted a little bit longer. That's what works for me.
And a morning workout usually means I accomplish much more on my day off. I get an early start instead of 'vegging' for a few minutes...which becomes and hour...then two...then half the day has passed!
Once I got in the habit of doing so, exercising first thing each morning became a natural part of each day. I get up first thing in the morning, have a quick breakfast of oatmeal, protein powder mixed into half 1% milk and half water, fresh berries and a cup of coffee. After that it's off to the gym (which is fortunately just a few minutes away). Some days it's cardio, others it's lifting. Once the weather gets warmer, on cardio days I'll be jogging instead of going to the gym.
Once my workout is over, I head home, shower, prepare lunch, and head to the office feeling refreshed, invigorated, and ready to battle the challenges of the work day.

It helps me to have a unmovable goal I am working towards. I will sign up for a 60 mile bike ride than when t is time to get up and workout I remind myself that I NEED to do this workout so I can be in shape for the event.
This works real well for me!

if it's easier for you to exercise in the pm, then do it. the benefits of the am aren't good enough that they outweigh easy exercising in the pm. if you still want to do it first thing then decide what you are going to do the night before and lay out everything you need in your path. so if i'm going for a run first thing in the morning before my brain starts to function, i pick out the clothes i am going to wear and put them on the stand by my bedroom door so that i can grab them on the way to the bathroom. i make sure my garmin and my ipod are charged and they are by the front door with my headphones and keys. i put my shoes by the front door and my socks in them. this way i just have to pick up my clothes to change as i stumble into the bathroom, then head to the door and i'm on my way. no thought required.
Personally I set up three different alarms with a note.
It could be anything ranging from rise and shine beautiful, or GO RUN, or SERIOUSLY move it. try it it actually works and I'm usually up by the second one and if not then once the threatening third one hits I usually force myself to move it. Oh and keep them 3-4 minutes apart.
