It helps me to keep a tally going on a piece of paper, so I can look at it and see where I'm at during the day.
I knew someone who did the penny method, she kept a stack of 8 pennies on one side of her desk, and for each glass of water she drank, she would move a penny to the other side of her desk. When the stack on the left hand of her desk was gone, she knew she had drank enough.
