I would ask for sauce on the side and split my main course in half as soon as it arrives. Still I say restaurant eating is not good at all !

No matter how much you mess up today tomorrow is a new day. Keep on going.

I tell them exactly what I want. If they offer sauteed broccoli, for example, I'll ask for it steamed instead. If I'm going to order meat, I specify "No Salt" and send it back if they over salt it. Most important-remember it's about the people you're with , not the food. Order something healthy, sauces on the side, and skip the fatty sides.

I limit restaurant trips to 1-2 times a year.

I just order meats and veggies with no sauces.

Eating out has always been a challenge, particularly with my family. I tend to like things on the light side, but they're seriously into meat, starch and cream sauces. The only time we see veggies in he house is when my husband and I bring them.

Got a good tip - look up the restaurant beforehand, to browse the menu and see if any nutritional information is available. If worse comes to worse, ask for a take home container once you're served and slip half your entree into it for tomorrow.

So, what do some of you folks do to navigate these rocky waters?
