Goodies and junk just show up at my place of employment this time of year. I avoid venturing out of my space during this time of the year. This year, I haven't had any of the goodies at work. I have my junk when I get home.

I have a plan for the week. so at the beginning of the week, I tell myself I'm allowed to have 2 small treats....I usually wait till the end of the week because I don't want to waste them on anything not worth it. by Friday, there might not be anything left, or there might not be anything I want. then I skip it and feel great about it. or if I have the 2 little treats, I stop there, and congratulate myself for sticking with the plan. It helps a lot to hear people complaining about the holiday weight gain while they eat, while I'm realizing that my pants are feeling loose....

You are so correct on that. I get so many comments on TP when I mention it!
I have maintained okay. I am up again today from weekend but I was back down yesterday morning so I know I can get there.
This season has not been anywhere as bad as I imagined it.
We had our organizational party yesterday I only at one bite off a sweet and the rest was I think okay. I had veggies, meat and half a wheat roll. Was still up this morning but hoping it is most salt.
The stuffing and cranberries may have gotten me though. LOL.

Today is our division-wide Christmas party. I love going to this for the fellowship, but the food can be anything. My solution is to bring one sweet item for the table that is safe on my plan. It's after lunch, so I can easily resist the savory items most of the time. I won't actually be hungry. But I'll bring my can of almonds with me just in case.

The big thing is to simply engage in other activities and talk to people. If they bring up the food, I listen and then say something like "I bet that's good." No one usually pushes me on why I'm not eating much. If they do, I just say I'm not hungry and they will typically move on. Never mention a "diet" or eating plan to these folks! Then they want to critique it!

Luckily for me this year, candy & cookies were very scarce. The sweets that they did have, I don't like. (I'm picky). And I've made sure to have an apple close by. I haven't even baked anything at home this year!

I always have the vegan excuse for these things. Usually works unless someone bakes something specifically so I can eat it. Then I kinda HAVE to eat it. Luckily that doesn't happen too often. ;)

Its definitely a problem for me as well, I work at a fast food restaurant where free soda is at our disposal along with discounted meals.
The smells are the worst... Fries, burgers, chicken nuggets... Ugh.
But I find that if I keep myself filled on water and the healthy snacks/meals I bring from home then I am less likely to nibble or completely indulge at work.

That is so true! I try to stay away from the treats but that also means staying out of the crowd that gathers around the food. Not a great solution.

A few years ago, I was asked to train this young hottie(phew...really a chore, I know!!) but...ug...I WAS old enough to be his mother! Anyway, when I showed him the break room...and it was filled with treats...I just said something like...Yes, it's always like this....filled with goodies...It drives me crazy....Well, this young, thin hunk said...That's ok....They won't bother me...I NEVER eat between meals, or eat junk during the day...I sometimes have a small dessert after my dinner...That's it......Mmmmm.... How interesting, I thought....No wonder this guy looks like a movie star!! I have tried to develop this confident attitude and habit..Now, who was training who?!

I guess I should clarify (and confess) that if the treats are lovingly homemade, or a high quality luxury item, I will likely indulge. But if it doesn't meet my expectations, it's back to the wrap and trash strategy.

I am in charge of the Wellness Program in our office.....I try my hardest to keep in mind that not everyone is on a health kick, but educating my employees as to what is in the foods that we provide really has gone a long way. The policy is if you are to bring food in to share, nutritional value must be included and available for all to see. We also use incentives for those who bring in healthy dishes instead of the fat filled sugary ones. Sometimes, especially this time of year, our offices fill with the all familiar suagr and spice that comes with the holidays. I like the idea of being polite and taking a slice, although I am unsure I would ever have the will power once in my quiet corner to throw it away, I could see myself fighting the urge to dig that yummy morsel out of the trash about 3/4 through my work day. :)

Eat healthy BEFORE going to the office or around the food table.
I am OK if I don't start in the first place and that is easier if I am not hungry.

I make the mistake sometimes of going around the break room to get coffee or a soda and it is SO tempting to grab a nibble of this or that. Those nibbles add up to a lot of calories and in the end you still didn't feel satiated.

Wiggle room on my weight! Getting consistent with exercise tipped the scales . . . in a good way~just don't think I need to lose any more--just get firm and fit!

I avoided the break room as much as possible until I was able to sit there without digging in the pastry basket. I also bring my own snacks and tea to avoid the latte/cookies combo

A lot of my coworkers have been bringing in baked goods. Luckily I allow myself 1/2 a cookie if I want and just move on. I usually have a stash of healthy snacks in my desk.

My job does a "Twelve Days of Christmas" thing - I'm in retail so right now we're not spending much time off the floor and those sugar bombs can look really tempting. Fortunately, we've also had bags of fresh mandarin oranges and pretzels so it's not all sweets. Even so, I walked in yesterday to wreaths of powdered doughnuts, their centers piled high with mint m&m's, flanked by snowmen Peeps! Heh. Total points for presentation, but that isn't really appealing to me. Now, if someone goes through the trouble of bringing in homemade treats, I will definitely try them. I don't have to eat the whole thing, and I usually don't. Really, I'm grateful that my coworkers care enough to participate! I'm glad to see that y'all seem to be in the same boat.
