It can be tough when our circadian rhythms, or your body's "internal clock," is set for what we do five days a week and interferes with what we want to do the other two. Drinking water is a great option that can hopefully help you drift back to sleep. A cup of low fat milk is another option if water doesn't work since it will provide carbohydrates and protein to satisfy without breaking your nutrient bank for the day.

I work the night shift at the local nursing home, so on my nights off I will wake up at 2 am ( my lunch time at work) hungry but I don't want to waste all my calories on late night cravings. I'm thinking that I'm not really hungry my body just wants to eat out of habit. So should just drink water and ignore it? That's what I've been doing.
