Do you have acid reflux? That effects the way foods taste, according to my doctor. I found it suprising. My husband has acid reflux and times when he eats to minimize it. He also takes some over the counter drug (don't know what it is) if he has to deal with a bout of it. He eats really fast and I think that's where the problem begins but who knows.

In addition to Becky's list; How do you feel emotionally? I would consider any history of depression/anxiety, genetic predisposition, large amounts of stress, lack of sunlight (vitamin D), recent relationship/ social life changes, lack of sleep/sleep disturbances, etc as possible indicators that the lack of appetite may be bio-cognitive.

Apart from what Dietitian Becky has said, between now and your Doctor's visit, you might benefit from something like Fortisip or Ensure - they are sort-of like a milkshake but have all the nutrients you need in them. People are often prescribed this sort of thing to help at times when normal eating isn't the best, for a variety of reasons.

Good luck,
Kris

The initial thoughts are things like:
new medication
new supplement
herbal supplement
new over the counter drug, etc

Or...are you coming down with "something"
Pregnancy?

If it does not improve---see your doctor.

If it's a sudden change and your lack of appetite is persistent you might want to pay your doctor a visit to make sure there isn't an underlying cause.

Has anyone else had a problem with a serious lack of appetite? I've been on sparkpeople for several years now and I've always had to control my eating rather than the other way around. But for the last week and a half, with no warning, I can hardly choke down any food. Not only does the food not seem appealing but it seems, to borrow a common phrase, to turn to ash in my mouth.Thoughts?

For the sake of information: I get regular exercise (I'm a grad student and I get at the very least an hour of exercise per day walking to and from campus) and I'm generally healthy.
