I would bake them for 15-20 mins on 350. I do not think it is necessary to turn them midway - people don't turn cookies and they somehow get cooked, yes?
But of course you could get some vegetable spray oil and sautee them. You need to tell your boyfriend there is a difference between sauteeing something on the stove and "fried food". You can't lump them all under the same nutritional umbrella. I'm guessing he's trying to avoid deep fried foods or foods stir fried with a lot of oil.

I wouldn't actually be inclined to cook them in the oven. 1 quick spray of Rice Bran Oil or Olive Oil is all it would take - a very minimal amount of fat - perhaps even less than 1 gram, and 7 to 9 calories. I think it would probably have better flavour too and dry out less! (A former professional cook.) As a bonus, it would use less power/gas, therefore saving a wee bit of money.
Try preparing as directed then, instead of in a skillet, bake in a 350 oven for 10ish minutes, turning halfway. You might need to experiment with the time.
Honestly though, it doesn't sound like there's any oil involved except for the optional cooking spray. If you have a good non-stick skillet you shouldn't need any and it would save you from turning on the oven.
