I'll relax and enjoy myself ... but focus on eating a little more of the low-carb food and a bit less of the high-carb food.

I will try, try, try to be careful, eating more veggies than starches, but saving a little room for pecan pie. Good luck everyone and enjoy the day!

In the past my success plan for Thanksgiving has been have a spoonful or two of each thing I like. Just a sample. Our table is so full of options that just a spoonful of each thing fills my plate. Then, I'll only have seconds if I'm still hungry-knowing that it will all still be here for the next meal, too.

This year I'll add to that the idea that I will avoid those foods that I know to be inflammatory for me or make me feel bad. It's just food, after all. I will offer to make one of the desserts to that it's something I truly love, not just another boring pumpkin pie.

I will enjoy the day. As for the food, I will eat those things that I really really love. For example, I can do without the mashed potatoes and eat stuffing instead. I plan to enjoy the smells of the cooking. tool emoticon

It's one day, so I will enjoy it but not so much that I go into a carb coma on the couch. I'll probably work out in the morning and go for a walk after the meal if the weather isn't too bad. My sister hosts, so I go early to help, but I don't have all that food in my house and I definitely won't be bringing home leftovers. One meal -- even if it is a big one -- is not going to ruin a healthy eating plan. It's what you do before and after that day. I'm definitely looking forward to pumpkin pie.

One thing I have found is that I no longer can eat as much and am more sensitive to too much fat. Oh, and I eat cake on my birthday -- and don't feel at all bad about it.

I'll eat on the low end of my range for the week leading up to Thanksgiving, then on the actual day, I'll eat have plenty of veggies, a reasonable amount of turkey, and at least a sampling of stuffing and potatoes. And yes, I'll have dessert, too. I'll track it all, expecting to go over my range for the day, but not crazy-far over.

Someone I know who loves to eat told me that he loves vegetables because he can eat so many of them without getting full. Meat and bread fill him up way too quickly, so he eats as many veggies as he can.

That will be my approach on thanksgiving! I plan the menu, so I'll be sure to have Healthy veggie options.

I think I'm going to have a free day as well. Not like, gorge myself, but not think about the calorie-counting. If that makes sense lol

Since Thanksgiving is only One Day, I plan to eat small portions of everything I like-a free day within limits not overstuffing myself. Keeping it lite between Thanksgiving and Christmas, Again same for Christmas only One Day and meal and treat wise will be treated as such. Not a "free season" for binging!

My family serves dishes I'm used to seeing frequently:
turkey
green beans
salad
spinach
garlic evoo sauce
deviled eggs

I'm stuffed after all that. Sometimes my SIL makes a bread and someone from the in-law side will bring a dessert.

I'll make it a free day and probably won't count calories. I'm actually not all that fond of many of the traditional Thanksgiving foods, but will eat some of most things and just try to eat moderately. I'm not worrying about one day.

I will not skip dessert though!

We're going on a 17 day cruise in December and I plan to eat what I want, within reason. I do quite a bit of walking and other active things on a cruise and usually gain 3-4 pounds on a two-week cruise--most of it comes off very quickly. This is our longest cruise yet, so we will see.

I've found that after a day or two of eating everything I want, I'm tired of that much food and pick and choose more.

My plan is to just enjoy myself. I have a rule that I'm following where I avoid chemicals and preservatives at home. However, I'm allowing myself the freedom to not worry about what I'm eating outside of the house (like when I eat out with friends).

I usually spend the Holidays with my best friend at his house, so I'm going to do that. For breakfast, I'll be eating "cleanly" but I won't worry about what I'm eating at the house. I'll just enjoy myself. I only get turkey, cranberry sauce, and stuffing once a year. Then, of course, dessert is my weakness.

I'm more concerned about Christmas simply because I have a buffet trip, Christmas Eve Chinese food, Christmas Dinner at my friend's house, and a week later there's New Year's. Still, I have no intention to eat junk every meal of every day for the next month and a half.

LOL - my only restrictions will be no dessert, no bread, lite gravy - otherwise I'm going for it :)
It's a holiday, one day is not going to kill me, and I won't beat myself up for it, either.

I normally don't have too many issues with thanksgiving. I eat a very small breakfast, and then when it comes to the meal I stay away from rolls and anything creamed and just have a good day!

Are you going to watch your food intake? Are you going to consider it a free day?
