If you look at the "choose my plate" format to group foods...
corn is a starchy veggie
and
popcorn is in the grain grouping.

True popcorn (air-popped) is really not a processed food at all. It is considered a whole grain. Water content in the kernel, plus hot temps = an exploded kernel. Not really much processing.

That should make it easier.

I find processed carbs cause me cravings, so instead of worrying about veggie or grain, I would worry about it being from corn.

However, if you think it helps you beat cravings, and are losing weight every week, then you are getting healthier, and shouldn't change anything.

I am a popcorn junkie and I credit this wonderful food with easing my cravings for junk food.

The question is...Is it considered a vegetable or a grain? I've searched the internet for answers and views on this conflict. I'd love to hear your thoughts on this.
