I encourage you to work with a doctor and be pro-active with your life by researching your condition and the available options.

You have already been given excellent advice.
Do set up your program using the SP Diabetes Center. Russell already shared the link. This center was designed by a Certified Diabetes Educator. Then confirm with your doctor the calorie and carb amounts in your SP program. If you still have questions, ask for a referral to see a Certified Diabetes Educator or Registered Dietitian

Ask your doctor for a referral to a nutritionist. I am no longer pre-diabetic, but I was for 20 years and no doctor ever gave me a specific eating recommendation.

The right number for you is likely something well under 150G/day. Certainly those carbs should come from legumes, whole grains, vegetables and fruit and you should avoid white sugar, flour, pasta and rice as much as possible.

Dances: salsa (standard/LA), casino, rueda de casino, cumbia Colombiana, bachata, mambo, cha-cha-chá, merengue, reggaetón.

Currently learning: Mexican cumbia, danzón, Cuban rumba

Dances to Learn in the future: flamenco, tango Argentino, samba, belly dancing, bhangra, ballroom rumba

If you do not want to wait for the advice from your doctor, SP has a diabetic option. I don't use it, but it would give you guidelines that may help you.

This could be useful until you can do the things I already posted. I though many others would have given advice by now. If you can get this set up, it would be better than nothing.

Didn't your doctor tell you? You should go back, and either get the info you need, or have the doctor refer you to a dietitian, or diabetes class/counseling.

I am diabetic, but there is more to the disease than what we can share with you here, and you should probably not take advice from strangers anyways. Plus, doing the research, and discussing this with your doctor will help you understand it better.

Talk to your doctor, or dietitian, go to a diabetes class, and read as many books as you can about the disease. that way, you are part of the plan, not just receiving instructions, and following them. If you mess up now, you need to ask your doctor what happened, but with a little understanding, you may be able to correct small mistakes yourself.
