Thank you for your replies. I double checked the range, and it was actually 1500 - 1860. I edited my goals to make sure it reflected losing 2 lbs a week, and it recalculated 1320 - 1640. That's within the range of the two other apps (or at least closer to it!) I think I'll shoot for 1450 - 1500, and then whatever exercise I manage to get in will be gravy.

Thanks again!

SP generally gives you a range of calories. You said "up to1700", so I am guessing your range is something like 1400-1700? If that is the case, then all the numbers you gave are reasonable and within that range.

I would suggest starting to just eat within whatever the range is. there is nothing wrong with eating at the top of your range, but you get a range of calories for a reason. You can eat any amount of calories within it and still meet your goals. Don't tie yourself up in knots to meet a specific number.

Hope that helps.

I would go with the Sparks People one. They suggested between 2,100-3,000 for me and it has worked wonderfully.

Take it one day at a time. :)

I am wondering which calorie allotment I should go with? My Lose It app tells me 1500 calories a day (before exercise), My Fitness Pal tells me 1380 a day, and SP tells me up to 1700 cals a day (without exercise.) I'm 5'9 and about 70 lbs over the suggested high for my frame/height. My goal is 2 lbs a week.

How do I know which one is right? Obviously the 1700 cal figure appeals to me ... :) but it is a bit confusing seeing the calorie budgets for 3 different programs so all over the place.

Thanks for any insight!
