To the original poster---
You are somewhat correct.
Because over the counter weight loss supplements are not backed by scientific research you would not be supported or encouraged to use such a product. And encouraging others to use the product would not be allowed as well at Sparkpeople.

However, you will receive the same supportive and encouraging advice regarding the ups and downs of weight loss, the best nutritional route to use and the best fitness route to incorporated.

And because weight loss supplements are not regulated---I do encourage you to talk with your doctor before using the supplement. Some supplements could be very dangerous based on your medical history, medications you use, etc

I take vitamins etc, but I am re-thinking it.... they are not regulated, so we don't know if we are getting what we pay for or not. Also, especially in multi's, I compared mine with a friend, and though it was supposed to be heavy on Vitamin B - they didn't even have a fraction of her brand.... really have to research and compare and then make your own decision...

SP does not have rules. You will find SP will not support weight loss methods that have not been scientifically vetted and that are considered safe. Since diet pills are scams, not safe, and have not been scientifically proven to provide long term weight loss, you will not find support for them here.

If you choose to talk about using diet supplements on SP, especially on the public boards, be prepared for many peoples experiences and opinions. You are welcome to post about your experiences as long as you are not selling them. But again, be prepared for people to give your their opinions on their use.

So its not against any policy or rule....correct? I read advertising was so I wanted to make sure taking them wasn't. I guess it's "frowned upon". And I I choose to take them or talk about the progress I won't be supported the same because I'm considered trying to do magic on myself, taking the easy or fast way, and not changing my lifestyle and I will gain it back???

I assume you mean over-the-counter weight loss supplements.

These would not be "against the rules"; since SP really doesn't have rules. However they are not encouraged because they are a scam and a waste of your money. Sparkpeople encourages the use of research evidence based guidelines when it comes to weight loss, nutrition, and fitness.

Hope this helps.
