I have an underactive thyroid and take medication as well. One thing that comes to mind-- what is your eating like? Especially since you mentioned vegetarian-- how much protein are you getting? Are you eating a lot of processed food? How about sugar, white flour, junk food etc? And as contrary as it sounds, I feel more energetic when I do more exercise.... even if before I do it, I feel tired. Sometimes I just have to drag myself up and get started. But it's really made a difference in my energy level overall.
