Broil grapefruit with cinnamon on top... no sugar though. Never tried with brown sugar before, but I prefer to avoid adding sugar to fruit.

I've never tried citrus this way... but I freeze a lot of fruit. It comes out almost like a dessert - especially melon and grapes. You might try the citrus that way. Or whip it up in some yogurt and make a popsicle out of it.

I remember broiled grapefruit. Exactly as you describe it - cut in half, sprinkle with brown sugar (gotta be brown), add a half a maraschino or glazed cherry to make it all pretty, and broil.

Can't say it's really worth the effort!!!

If you find unsweetened grapefruit too challenging, try mixing in a few pieces with other, sweeter fruits into a fruit salad. Or, a salad combo I particularly like (although it is pretty "summery", not exactly a hearty fall dish), is Spinach Shrimp and Grapefruit salad... i.e. www.marthastewart.com/313368/shrimp-and-gr
apefruit-spinach-salad
. There's lots of similar recipes, often calling for avocado as well, which.... yum! The tart grapefruit works very well here.

Broiled grapefruit with brown sugar is really delicious. The grapefruit itself is high in fiber and only has about 100 calories, while sprinkling a teaspoon of brown sugar on each side only adds about another 50 calories. I think that is a fantastic dessert option, or even an afternoon snack for someone who who is making lots of other positive choices as well.

Why would you add sugar to fruit??? It is already full of carbs.

Just eat them, of slice for salads.

my grandmother makes this for easter and it's my favorite:

1. Peel oranges and slice across (so you have flat, round pieces)
2. Drizzle with GOOD QUALITY olive oil and freshly ground black pepper.

Goes great with hard boiled eggs!!

What are some ways to eat or use grapefruit and oranges other than peeling or cutting them and eating them fresh? I like both but am getting bored and looking for new ideas. Someone once shared a recipe where I think u halve a grapefruit and then broil it with brown sugar? Sounded weird but very interesting. Any ideas would be great!
