I have adjusted my calories to 1500 on my own, I tried adjusting with the nutrition tracker but it is not working for some odd reasoning, and healing is taking it out of me. I was just aloud to drive went to pay a bill and I am exhausted, completely. I want to thank everyone for there kind support. I actually was gaining weight last week I lost and a lot is fluid buildup, from medicine and I believe some from anesthia. It is getting under control now, that is the reasoning concerned over calories. Thanks so much in advance.

That calculation is set with weight maintenance in mind based on how your goals are set. Recovery from surgery and healing are energy demanding as well so the calculations don't seem too far off. You can monitor your weight to see how things are going. If you are eating in this range and maintaining your weight, you are on track. If you are seeing a slight gain (perhaps due to medications), you may want to adjust down by several hundred calories. Anything more drastic could limit your healing and recovery progress.

As you are recovering from surgery, I would be inclined to forget about weight-loss until you have been cleared by your Dr, and instead focus on maintenance. Make sure that your diet contains a good amount of lean protein to help you fully recover.

I hope that your recovery is good without any hiccups!

Take care,
Kris

You put in the number of calories you expect to burn through exercise in a week, and SP uses that, your weight, and your weight loss goals to determine your calories. What range is it giving you? The bare minimum that a sedentary, average-weight woman should consume to get all her nutrients is 1200. If you're more active or weigh more, you'll generally need more than that.

How does Sparkpeople determine the amount of calories you are suppose to consume? I am recovering from surgery for the last month and my activity level is 0 nothing, should I be consuming so many calories?
