My opinion depends on what the sweetener is (Spenda or Stevia=OK, NutriSweet/Aspartame=BAD) and whether or not your ultimate goal is to get off of it entirely.
If you switch to diet sodas with aspartame, watch out for headaches. NutriSweet is a migraine trigger and it can cause brain swelling in some people.
Even without sugar, sodas are leeching calcium out of your bones and messing with your sense of satiety. I think that any kind of pop should be an "occasional treat" food and not a daily indulgence.
