I urge you to talk to a school counselor. I think there is more involved here and you deserve to be helped. hugs.

After thinking about your problem, I think you might want to consider a different approach. Why not bring healthy snack, the one that favors your diet whenever you are with these generous people. I think it is very effective way.

SInce your parents are family, could you made talk with them and explain you're trying to gain weight in a healthy way? And maybe let them know that ice cream isn't necessarily out of the question, it just can't be consumed all the time. I am sure they just want to help because they want you to be healthy, too.

i agree that simply saying "no thank you" or "i'm not hungry" is the way to go. i will strongly disagree with saying that you're watching your whatever it happens to be. when you imply that someone else's food isn't up to your par people tend to insist that it is [ie want to make you eat it because if you have special limits then they want their food to fit in those special limits] and it makes a big deal about it. whereas there isn't much one can do about someone else not being hungry.

don't feel bad that this is difficult right now. learning anything new can be a little headache inducing. so accept that right now you need to work on it and focus on it and as you learn how to balance what you eat you can teach yourself tips and tricks to make it easier. but you have to learn it the hard way first. just like in math class when you learn to divide by hand before you get to use the calculator for it.

one of the best things that you can do to get your parents to stop shoving the ice cream at you is to get some healthy, higher cal options in your rotation. this article www.sparkpeople.com/resource/nutrition_art
icles.asp?id=593
has some great tips. but you should also look at the foods you eat regularly and try to figure out ways that you can boost the calorie count by 50 cals [or however many calories you need to to hit your goals]. it might be adding half an ounce of nuts to your favorite salad, switching from nonfat dairy to 2% or whole, adding 1/4 of an avocado to your sandwich, eating a 25% larger portion than you were before, drizzling a little olive oil and herbs on your steamed veggies and so forth. when you are already hitting your calorie goals there won't be any reason to suggest ice cream to get you there.

-google first. ask questions later.

Well, my parents are trying to help me gain weight and they tell me to eat ice cream and if I don't listen i'll be in trouble. I know they are trying to help. I just feel like living a healthy lifestyle should be fun, just like living, and easy, just like breathing... not a headache like it is right now. thank yall for all of the suggestions!

It sounds to me like you might benefit from some help from a counselor who deals with food issues. It is o.k. to eat these treats on occasion and in moderation, and it sounds like you might know that, but need to learn how to teach your brain to not obsess quite so much.
Below is a link that may help with eating enough to help you gain the weight:

It is okay to have a treat like cake once in awhile. If you truly don't care for any, than a simple no thank you should suffice. And food, whether saying no to it or enjoying a treat shouldn't ruin your day and attitude. I agree that speaking with a professional may be beneficial.

Have you ever talked to a counselor about these issues?

It's important to remember why you want to say no. Post the reason somewhere where you can see them easily and often. Then reward yourself when you do say no. Find something quick, easy, and non food-related as a reward. I play a quick game of Candy Crush as my reward! Good luck!

look up some spark articles re 'food pushers'- just politely say no thank you, or say that you're not hungry- you don't owe an explanation. if you feel you need to, you can tell them that you are watching what you eat, or you're watching your sugar intake, etc.
