Mom used to make "brownies" using Oatmeal, Raisins, and Chopped nuts (whatever kind she had in the pantry). When I think of her and miss her, I make these to remember good times.

Hot chocolate, without a doubt.

As kids, we were always outside, and the one guarantee if it was cool and rainy, or during the winter, was that we'd come inside to change in to warm, dry clothes and have a hot chocolate. Not some pre-mixed stuff with water, but melted chocolate and milk heated in the double-boiler.

This has been my family comfort food in all situations, and is now my evening "ritual" that ends every day. I "cheat" now with using cocoa powder and maple sugar and the microwave (I'm far too lazy to clean a double-boiler every day!), but it never fails to make me smile with that same warm, cozy, safe-at-home feeling that I had when I came inside as a kid.

I'm smiling right now as I'm typing this!

Afraid of a colonoscopy? Believe me - they are much less frightening than surgery and chemotherapy.

Colonoscopies allow polyps to be removed before they can become cancer, or let cancers be found before they are too widespread. If you are 50 or older, or have any symptoms, please don't let fear stop you from covering your butt.

Get checked!

My grandmas cheese souffle! I can't have this anymore, as I am now allergic to dairy. Still the smell of cheese-souffle if the most comforting scent I can think of, just a tiny hint of nutmeg light as air and magically delicious!

If I would deviate from the chicken pot pie that I've been making for years, I'll be murdered.

LOL

It's only a once-in-a while thing anyway ;)

Check out the cooking light version of chicken pot pie guys - it uses phyllo dough instead of a crust and it is delicious. I LOVE chicken pot pie and was very pleased to find a healthier version :)

Oh my gosh, where do I start? Chicken and noodles would definitely be one because growing up, every year for my birthday, my mom would make me homemade chicken and noodles. Everything from scratch.

Homemade chicken pot pie is a huge one. I'm actually making one for Sunday dinner this week. Other comfort foods for me would include sausage gravy and biscuits, meatloaf and mashed potatoes, stuffed peppers and mashed potatoes, cabbage rolls and mashed potatoes (gee, I think I like mashed potatoes) mashed potatoes with cream gravy and fried chicken. But if I were to pick just one, it would definitely be the chicken pot pie.

Comfort food has a bad connotation, and I don't mean it that way at all.

What are the foods that have a comfy cozy connotation to you? Maybe they remind you of family get togethers, growing up, or have some sort of nostalgia associated with them.

My cozy meal is peanut butter and jelly with potato chips and ranch dressing and a sliced apple. This was my lunch ALL the time growing up. I now eat it with healthier bread/crackers, use banana or all fruit jam instead of jelly, and eat carrots with ranch instead of potato chips (not that I never eat chips; I just try to have veggies at every meal). It still gives me that cozy feel!

The other one is chicken pot pie. We ate it all the time in the winter growing up. I remember big snow storms and staying in and my mom baking this. I make it now without chicken because I'm a vegetarian, and add tons of vegetables.
The other one
