Acid Reflux is a very common issue. It is more commonly found in overweight individuals but I have it and I'm a young, fit, and tiny.

I personally find that my acid reflux can kick in when I don't have anything in my stomach. I don't know why, it just occurs.

If I were you I'd start taking prelosec (or however you spell it). This over the counter acid-reflux medication generally helps get rid of heartburn. You need to make sure you take it EVERY day though. Hopefully it will be gone by the end of the 14 days (they are packaged for 14 day treatments). If not you can visit your doctor. My doctor tells me to go ahead and just keep taking it until my stomach feels better but since the box warns against this unless you have doctor approval I would first get doctor approval.

Thanks for the prompt reply, appreciated. I have been eating healthy for a year & half now ( lot of veggies, low sugar) but could not lessen the bread. I used to eat beet before & meat with no problem. I had a surgery last year removing part of my kidney due to cancer, I don't know if the low stomach acid is related to such operation. Any way, I have just done my regular multi slice & sonar checks & seems OK...I don't want to visit a doctor again for a while & was wondering if one could know the reason & how to cure low stomach naturally

We are simply not equipped to diagnose nor treat illnesses here on SP. You really need to consult with a medical professional before attempting to self-diagnose.

do get checked out by your doc if this keeps up. keep in mind that artificial sweeteners can cause stomach upset. so can fiber. if you were going from no veggies to ten servings a day that might cause upset until you get used to that amount of fiber [and are drinking enough water and eating enough fat to help move all that fiber through]. other people have issues with added fibers [chicory or psyllum husk] causing stomach upset. i find that orange juice in particular upsets my stomach unless i cut it with something else and if i don't already have a decent amount of food in my stomach then it's even worse. so do make sure you're taking a look at what got added when you started cutting calories.

-google first. ask questions later.

Hi,
I hope u r alright now. Will appreciate if u share with us what ur Dr said. For me, i suddenly begin to suffer once I eat any meat specially beef, a big stomach & feel hard to breathe. I sometimes suffered from heart burn but not much. I didn't figure what is the problem until accidently after eating beet, I got red urine. From medical sites I discovered that I may have lowstomach acid (not high as I thought). Try this test & chevk

I would definitely check with my doctor, but I had actual withdrawal when I cut out all sugar. I was sick to my stomach, and was told that what I thought were hunger pangs were actually withdrawal symptoms. However that only lasted a few days.

It sounds like you have digestive issues, just like I do.

If you changed your diet, and started including more fruits and veggies or are drinking a lot more water during meals than it is not uncommon for those with sensitive digestive issues to get bad acid reflux.

Sit down and google some good foods for acid reflux and how to manage it. Foods like simple grains (oatmeal, toast, cereal), milk and yogurt help sooth acid reflux.

If the acid reflux continuous see your doctor. He or she can help you manage it by giving you medications.

Give up the soda for sure!

Eating fried foods, chocolates, tangy or spicy products, intake of caffeine containing drinks, diet sodas, sugar alcohols, alcohol and tobacco, high acid foods, a hiatus hernia, pregnancy, peptic ulcers, obesity, eating hurriedly and GERD are few underlying factors that can lead to heartburn....as well as diabetes....yes, diabetes.

Waste no time in visiting the doctor if it turns out into a daily event. Yes start keep a log of what you eat...meantime try some Chamomile tea and a cup of hot water, mixed with a tablespoon of lemon juice. Have this mixture before meals. It should prevent any indigestion.

Please see a medical professional for individual advice as this is not intended as medical advice.

You really need to see your Dr because various potential health issues could cause this, and maybe it just coincides with calorie reduction!

LANILANI209 - it is very unsafe and unwise to be advocating this sort of thing over the internet. Essential Oils may be fine and good, but there are often other health issues of which you no nothing, and that can contra-indicate the Essential Oil, and potentially put the person at risk of more serious consequences. A qualified health provider is the person who should be making the 'prescription' in the first instance.

I have been having a similar problem, and since acid reflux runs in my familys (and one of the typical symptoms is heartburn/burning when you are hungry) I have been taking Prevacid every day. I started eat clean 3 days ago, and Prevacid or not I am starting to feel like crap by the end of the day every day now... not sure what is going on...

Acid reflux (the burning stomach feeling) is caused by many things; what you're eating, how you're eating, and even the weight on your stomach. What i'd suggest would be to carefully track what, how, and when you eat (keep it in a place you can easily record it, print it out, etc) and when you go to the doctor, take it. Keep details of how much and what you eat, when you eat it, and how you eat it (time, etc). That can help your doc isolate the problem!

I too encourage you to call your doctor.
You bring up several issues so further medical investigation would be appropriate.

Sounds like the best person to advise would be the doctor. I tend to have this sort of problem if I have overeaten, certainly not through eating healthily.

Weird question.....I have been really watching my calorie intake and have been exercising and battling a "burning" stomach. almost ulcer/indigestion type burning. I thought it was from a drink I'd had but I haven't been drinking that and still having problems? Is my system going through an adjustment? Am I not eating enough or the right things??? I'd like this burning sensation to go away!!!!! I have cut my diet pop intake WAY back, drinking lots of water, and trying to eat better. Feeling worse though stomach wise. anyone else had this??? Or just me
