Ok, thanks!! I checked the "Single Day Calorie Differential" report in the "My Reports" that you pointed out. I see for sedentary it sets my BMR to 1630. For "Lightly Active" it sets it to 1860. For "Very Active" it sets it to 2100. It redefines it to say that the BMR calculation includes your BMR plus the daily activity.
That's what I wanted to know, mostly out of curiosity to see where the numbers were coming from. I knew it was adding in my exercise to the basic range but didn't know where the range was coming from.
I just re-started dieting again too 11 days ago. I set it to the "Very Active" category, but was eating to the low number because I did not feel that the projects I was working on were as physically demanding last week, and also I was coming back from being sick so not moving quite as fast as I normally am. LOL. I also manually add in my exercise, making the calories match what my Garmin heart rate monitor tells me.
I think the actual ranges themselves are calculated as before, so the low end is 250 calories less than the target. Anyway, the first week I lost 2.8 lbs, which sounds like a lot but I don't take stock into it because the night before the first weigh-in we ate at a Chinese buffet restaurant and I did not watch what I ate, so I know I was bloated from that probably.
So I'm giving it 2-3 weeks to see what rate I am really losing at. If it made me too hungry I would eat more, but I've been at a decent level of hunger. I've been a little hungry sometimes but not starving.
In fact I feel like I should be more hungry based on previous "experience," so I've been tempted to lower how much I've been eating, though I know that is illogical so I'm just going by the results I see versus trying to out-think it.
