I started rereading "The Simple Diet" today and learned that I was dead wrong about the book failing to mention the HMR connection. It IS in there, right on the Acknowledgment page (am I the only person who doesn't usually read the Acknowledgment page?)

The Simple Diet (from the book, The Simple Diet by Dr. James Anderson and Nancy Gustafson) is an at-home HMR clone.

The book gives guidelines for selecting products to duplicate HMR products. In the book, Dr. Anderson never mentions the link to HMR, but apparently he has admitted the link on the diet's facebook page (so I've heard).

I'm following the diet and spending less than $6 per day on food. Actually more like $3 a day when I make my protein-boosted homemade yogurt (which fits the shake guidelines).

I am doing something similar: Health One. I am finding the cost to be comparable to what i would normally spend on food. I do 4 meal replacements, 3 servings of veg and 2 servings of fruit.

Thank you for the input, but I don't think I'm going to do it, primarily because of the cost (not sure if can list the cost but was pretty expensive). Way outside of my budge, unfortunately because I kinda wanted to do it.

I've also spoke with a coworker that said she did the optifast one (also dr supervised) and lost 100lbs but 40% of that loss was muscle, while she did bike riding and lifting to. I'd rather not pay that much to loss valuable muscle rather than fat.

HMR is a very reputable program. Well formulated meal replacements, great group support and coaching. They also have a strong phase 2 program for learning the skills to maintaining weight loss and to learn how to "eat" within our crazy food environment.

Yes it would medically supervised and there are weekly clinics and meetings, which are 1.5 for both so 3 hrs total.

So by the Topic title, can I assume this is being medically supervised? Not quite sure by your post. If not, that would be my suggestion is to make sure your doctor is aware and approved it.

I'm sure there have been other questions regarding this program, I just didn't see much about it.

Has anyone tired this program?

I've been somewhat doing something like this and I've lost 9 lbs in the last month from using Natures Way Metabolic reset, but the only cost associated with it is the cost of the shake.

Any input would be appreciated! emoticon
