To get calories for venison, etc, I look them up on fatsecret.com. Very detailed.

Deer, elk if he can get it for you, and antelope are all great dieting options. all the proting "half the fat" (made that number up, of cousre, to mimic the commericals).

but sausage is one thing I'd add some fat cals for, if you are doing it. Since wild or home made sausage of any animal is really "whatever is left over" it *can* be lean, but since those cuts taste bad, it's usually mixed with loads of the fatty parts. So I just automatically add 1 gm fat (or in my sense "one serving") per sausage, vs. the lean meats.

i'm envious We haven't had fresh meat in years, since my father got too old to want to hunt.

Just trying to learn to eat right, before i worry too much about cals.

I second the recommendation for the site ICEDMETER shared. I use it *all* the time.

Venison is a great replacement for beef.

If you can't find the precise item that you're looking for in the Spark database, then you can enter it yourself using nutritional information from another source.

You might find one of the items listed here to be more accurate for what you're eating:

Hope this helps!

Afraid of a colonoscopy? Believe me - they are much less frightening than surgery and chemotherapy.

Colonoscopies allow polyps to be removed before they can become cancer, or let cancers be found before they are too widespread. If you are 50 or older, or have any symptoms, please don't let fear stop you from covering your butt.

Get checked!

The food tracker has listings for venison and deer meat, as well as sausages and such. Use a food scale to measure your portion and track accordingly.

You don't have to eat the whole thing.

My brother in law is an avid hunter. He hunts all the time and most of the time he gets more meat than he and my sister can eat so he give it to the family. Yay us. I was wonder how to track it and how to find out the calorie count. I mostly have ground meat (hamburger) and ribs, some sausage, but not much. Thank you for any advise.
