Volunteered time at a soup kitchen. Really made me think about over eating, emotional or otherwise. Puts things in perspective, especially when people who have nothing.

one of the little extras that I do is gladly get up to get something for my husband instead of insisting that he do it himself. It shows him that I love him but also gets me up and moving. Granted it would be best if He got up and did it himself since he could use the little extras too, but I do this for me.

Lots of good ideas on here, especially the walking as you wait for the computer to change articles. Every little bit helps.

I try to be less "efficient" at work, and instead of waiting till I have a bunch of stuff to fax, file, put in the mail, I get up to do whatever after each little bit is finished and take care of it. Not much either, but I think everything helps. emoticon

I love my lap swims 3 times a week and when I need to do a little extra, I will ride my recumbent bike while watching some TV, but for the next 10 days or more, I am not allowed to do that, not even up and down the stairs, since I just had to have some oral surgery done on Friday. I am frowning 'cause I can't eat properly either. Am stuck with a soft or liguid diet "til the stitches come out. emoticon

I stand on my feet at work - the entire 8 hour shift behind a counter. Instead of just standing, though, I walk around and help people....walk around to look outside...walk around to check out the merchandise or move it around. I just try to keep my butt moving.

I try to get my 10,000 steps in with my Fitbit everyday. If I am not going to make it, I have been dragging out my Kinect for the Xbox and playing an active game to get in those last 1000 steps or so. Minute to Win It has been my favorite lately.

I'm another bike commuter (several days a week). I take the stairs 80% of the time. I have a desk job except when I'm in court. (When I'm in court, I'm on my feet 90% of the time.) When I'm at my desk, I get up at least once an hour to take work to my legal assistant (instead of making her come get it) or swap out the bilge water. I'm naturally lazy, but I'm also kind of fidgety: it's hard for me to sit still for more than 20-30 minutes. (Thank goodness we do "Episcaerobics" (stand-sit-stand-sit-kneel-stand-kneel-stand-sit-stand) in church.)

Love God. Love your neighbor. Change the world. It really is that simple.

While transferring clothes from the washer to dryer - 1 item at a time, I do squats. My job keeps me walking/standing most of the day, but I also spend a fair amount of time in the car. During this time I do yoga breathing which keeps the belly tightened, improves posture and keeps me calm in traffic jams.

Walking on the spot while the kettle boils! At 200 steps a time I can make an extra 1000 just by making hot drinks during the day. If I make extra just for DH that's another bonus.

I used to dance in the basement when I was a teenager - haven't really danced like that since (not sober, anyway-LOL). We adults get so inhibited. Thanks so much for reminding me of something I used to really enjoy! I have a new CD player still in the box waiting for me to decided what to do with it. And I've been meaning to clean out the basement...

I've invested in the tech toys.
I have a pedometer (Fitbug) to track my steps and I aim for 10000 steps a day. Fitbug also tracks online and through my medical aid I earn points for walking a certain minimum steps a day.
I recently purchased a GPS enabled sports watch and accompanying heart rate monitor (Garmin Forerunner 210). This is a FANTASTIC tool as my favourite exercise is running...road running as well as (mostly) trail running. With this tool I can track my route, distance, elevation, heart rate, calories burnt, etc.
We are currently running a Weightloss (Super You) Challenge at work and over 70 people are taking part. We remind each other to take the stairs; we go for a weekly "Wednesday Wobble" in different groups doing different distances at different speeds. We even have Deskercise examples of exercises you can do at your desk or around the office. Every little motivation to movement is a motion in the direction of better health!

I got a heart rate monitor for Christmas. I enter my weight, calculate my heart rate range, and get about 150 more calories burned than trying to match what I'm doing to the list of exercises. It has done wonders for my morale.

I now stand to fold laundry and put it away a little at a time to get in more steps. With the heat here in TX I have taken to walking laps in my house, each lap is 22 steps and I do 30 laps per hour for 5 hours. I am in the market for an exercise ball. I also have 3lb hand weights that I use during commercials for some upper body workouts.

I take the stairs every day. I will also use the bathroom upstairs in my building, one extra set of stairs. I have a fitness ball in my living room, so I watch TV on that sometimes. I keep my ice cream in the basement freezer, I really have to want that treat to get it.

once a day I walk up and down 6 flights of stairs in my building. Right now it is too hot to walk outside (110' here in AZ) so I do this every day. It feels good to leave my desk and get my heart rate up.

Taking care of yourself first isn't selfish, it's necessary.

I do calf raises behind my desk at work, stand as often as I can, do squats and wall push-ups at lunch... I walk as often as possible (which, as someone else said, means parking further away, taking the long route, turning down rides, etc.), I dance when I can (music in the kitchen has always been my thing--but I'm missing my dad's XM radio and the '40s station that used to be on it...), and when I work my second job (bath and body works), I always volunteer to do shipment and lift the boxes as a strength trainer (great for the biceps!!).

I put on music when I'm in the kitchen cooking, doing dishes and cleaning. I end up dancing around (and looking a little silly) but I wind up taking a lot of extra steps and moving to the music.

Set up a yoga mat in front of the TV. During commercial breaks, I do one of the strength training exercises (leg lifts, pushups, etc). Each commercial is 2 1/2 minutes, so by the end of a 1 hour show, I've done 20 min. of exercise!!!

At work, when weather permits, I walk to a park about half a mile away to eat my lunch. While making my coffee & tea in the morning or waiting for the printer, I do heel and toe raises (I also do these in the winter while waiting for the microwave to heat up my lunch).

When shopping, I park near a cart corral, but away from the store. This not only adds steps, but I have fewer pedestrians ambling behind my car as I'm trying to back out when I'm done. (In fact, yesterday I forgot my Fitbit and parked away from the store anyway.)

At home, I take the cat out in the hall to see my roommate off to work in the morning, and he usually takes me up and down the hall a couple of trips.

I walk to the supermarket & back home everyday instead of driving there to do one big shop like most people. Whenever I'm in a shop I wander up and down every aisle rather than going directly for what I need.

Today, (after making my hubby mad for taping things to our fridge because it isn't magnetic), I vigorously polished the cleared fridge which led to an all out polishing of kitchen cabinets. I was sweat'n when finished! Great unexpected upper body workout!
When I am at the gym... watch the TV.
When I am at home, I try to stand more, toe raises, an occasional lunge episode down the hall or while taking the dogs out!

BLINGQUEEN:O) sends you {{{{{{{{HUGS}}}}}}}}} can you feel them? :O)

I've been taking the stairs to my 5th floor office lately. I've been doing that for about a month and it's getting easier every day.

I live across the street from my work. We like to go out to lunch so instead I set the table with my fav china, pick up low-cal salads from Trader Joe's, have light dessert (strawberries with light whipped cream), sparkling flavored water, and a TJ chocolate wedge - all for under 400 cal. I'm on the 10th floor so we have a beautiful view and fun conversation. The walk to my place is exactly a mile round trip so we exercise and have a fun lunch. I'm hoping this is a regular event. TJ's is on our way so we can all pick up whatever we want in the future.

This is the first day of the rest of my life. I chose it to be healthy and happy!

Prior Planning Prevents Poor Performance!

Slim is where I wanted to be in 201o & 2011! Never happened, plateaued for a long time and gave up... got off track, but never left, so am back on track again!!! Make 2012 my year! So far, did finally lose 25 lbs. over the summer, but have found about 11 of it so far, it didn't hide good enough...
and lost it again in 2013... going down to 175 this fall, and staying there...this time!
