Thanks everyone. I think I will just try to cut down on the pasta and breads. Eat healthy and go from there. I wont feel guilty for eating spag. or having a slice of bread with it. As well as enjoying a toss salad loaded with lots of veggies.

Please do not go gluten free just for weight loss reasons. If you want to switch one grain for another go for a whole grain like brown rice, whole wheat quinoa, etc. Or try eating less carbs in general (skip large pasta and bread meals). There is no magic in gluten unless you have Celiac or are gluten intolerant.

As a replacement for rice/pasta look at quinoa, it has a ton more protein and cooks faster than rice.

That being said, most people lose weight going gluten-free not because of reducing adverse reactions to gluten, but because they're cutting out a metric crap ton of processed foods in the process.

Bread, pasta, cereals and rice are IMO filler foods. They fill you up but aren't as healthy as veggies and fruit. The less you eat of them the healthier you'll be.

You're better off switching to veggies than rice. Spaghetti squash is a really good sub for pasta. Vegetables in general are FAR more nutritious than grains.

I have a friend who is eating gluten free. She has lost 25 lbs in 3 months. She has cut out almost all breads and pasta. She is eating rice instead.

My question
Is rice better for you than pasta?
What about wheat pasta?
What about no bread?
