I use Truvia. I tend to be a bit of a coffee snob, and the Truvia is nice because it sweetens the drink without messing with the flavor of the coffee too much. :) I get the little packets in the baking aisle because I take them with me everywhere for iced tea or coffee at work or in restaurants.

I add milk or soy milk, though I am gradually drinking it blacker and blacker.

A cardamom pod in your coffee (I just throw it in the French press) will make it taste great. I have friends in Saudi Arabia who send me great bags of cardamom, so I always have it on hand. Really good cinnamon is also nice, as is a splash of Madagascar vanilla.

Freshly ground beans (regardless if they are an original roast or roasted with a flavor like hazelnut) and black has always been my favorite.

Every now and then, I will add dark chocolate powder, sprinkle of raw pure cane sugar (about 1/4 to 1/2 tsp. max) and a little almond milk.

I never liked my coffee or tea sweet though.

I've been using Stevia in my coffee for a while now. I also use the sugar free Torini syrups. They are pretty good.

My prior favorite was International Delight Fat Free Vanilla Creamer. But, as you mentioned, after two cups of coffee and 4 tablespoons I have used 130 calories that are completely empty. But, I just don't enjoy black coffee unless it is a shot of espresso.

So, I now make myself a shot of espresso and add a cup of nonfat milk. Calories are slightly less and now I get protein out of it too. :-) I use one pack of Truvia as sweetner. I could take the time to steam the milk for a true latte but I just throw it together as kind of a cafe con leche.

I've always liked hot coffee black, but unfortunately even then I like it quite sweet. In the summer I tend to drink iced coffees, and I use a splash of creamer in those.

There are recipes for homemade creamers all over the internet. I found several on pinterest when I was looking for a way to improve the nutrition of my favorite fall-time treat, pumpkin spice coffee. The nice part about making it at home is that you can play with the ratios of ingredients: cut sugar a little here, swap out one sweetener for another to see what kinds work well for you, change the flavors etc.

I use 1/2 teaspoon of real sugar, my only sugar for the day, and a drop of half and half. I only drink 2 cups of coffee a day and figure in these additions in my tracker.

I like my coffee with unsweetened soy milk and I do use sucralose drops that I order on line, that don't contain maltodextrin.

I don't flavor my coffee either. I have to put creamer in it at work because it's way, way too dark. I do like the cinnamon idea that someone posted, though. I would second buying the flavored roasts, though. That would be the lowest calorie option, and there are a ton of different flavored coffees out there with flavors like hazelnut, Irish cream, Jack Daniels, pumpkin spice, etc.

I like my coffee hot or cold. Sweetened with Stevia and non fat milk. It is really good refrigerated when the weather is hot! yum, yum! I drink it in the am and then after dinner. I am trying to stop drinking by 8:30-9:00 pm so I can go to sleep by 10:00pm.

I don't "flavour" my coffee. I add cream and that's it. If I want a flavoured coffee, I use flavoured grounds/beans.

I'm also in the now-I-drink-it-black camp. I started off with cream and sweetener, gradually getting rid of the sweetener. Then I went from cream to skim to almond milk and now black. I don't miss it much anymore!

Hi Coffee Lovers-

I drink my coffee black- hot or cold. But I usually drink about forty ounces a day. I am trying to figure out why my diet plan seems to want to restrict my coffee intake- if it's because of possible dieretic effects, I've got that covered, I drink about two gallons of water a day (and have for a very long time).

Is there something else about coffee that SP wants us to stay away from it? I have never heard of anything,..except that when cleansing you're not supposed to have caffeine but we're not cleansing.

Thank you!

I just put a small amount of cream in my coffee and no sugar. The only time I put sugar in my coffee is when I get a cafe au lait (coffee with steamed milk) or latte and I don't put much.

Maybe you could try buying a really nice coffee bean and grind it yourself. That way you wouldn't need to add any flavorings. Real coffee drinkers just want to taste the coffee anyway - at least that's what they tell me, :)

I haven't had sugar in coffee in years and I managed to switch from cream to skim milk.

Sometimes I like to stir it with a cinnamon stick... Generally don't like artificial flavours.

Some people have adverse reactions to artificial sweeteners. I started drinking my coffee black years ago...it takes awhile to get used to it! I think it would be better to add a teaspoon of sugar, cut back to a half and then to none in the long run. At least with pure sugar you not getting any other chemicals. Maybe try the small sugar cubes for portion control..

I would say that to make this even more delicious, add a little of natural stevia extract. It would then taste like my mom's snickerdoodle cookies.

Yes, cinnamon is a great flavor for coffee! I would just sprinkle some on top rather than blend it with the grinds. It is just simpler. Thanks for the idea! Hope the OP finds it as helpful as I did. (*runs off to make coffee to try this right now*)

Edited to add; that was delicious! 2 dl. black coffee with a splash (1/4 dl.) vanilla soy milk and 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon. I recommend trying it. Just 11 calories, 1 carb, 1 fat, 1protein.

you can shake a little cinnamon on the grinds before brewing, or right into the coffee.
I quit the sugar in coffee about 2 years ago. It was a huge step for me. I use just 1% milk and I measure how much goes in.

I drink my pour over coffee with soy milk and 2 Splenda. That's not all that helpful I know since you don't care for artificial sweeteners. Have you tried Toriani's line of flavoured syrups? Maybe a certain flavoured bean coffee may help with more flavour in your coffee~

luckily, this is one area I don't have a problem in. I usually drink my coffee black, or if I'm splurging, I get a latte (just coffee and milk though, no extras)

I have found that if I am splurging on a latte, I do want 2% milk though. non fat just doesn't cut it

I usually don't flavor my coffee, I like the flavor as it is, but when I feel like it I will add some natural almond milk (sweet marzipan-like taste) or some vanilla flavored soy milk. A small splash will be enough for me. The milks will curdle if the coffee is too hot, just FYI.

It took a long road trip for me to switch to black coffee officially. I started out with a lighter roast, but now I can drink darker roasts black just fine.

Like a PP said, many brands make flavored coffee that you can add a splash of milk to that will take the bite off of the coffee but you still get the great flavor from the beans.

Market Pantry by Target makes some pretty good ones, Seattle's Best is my favorite, and when I want to splurge, I buy a bag of Dunkin :)

When I first started drinking coffee I always took it black. Then I discovered flavoured creamers and became reliant on those. When I first started trying to lose weight those were the first to go... empty calories, sugars. I tried to go back to black and I just couldn't do it so I switched to herbal and green teas for awhile.

Don't get me wrong, I don't mind tea... but growing up a coffee drinker it just doesn't compare. I recently switched back to black coffee. After cutting so much sugar from my diet, I enjoy the taste and don't feel the need.

Even more recently, I got a Tassimo machine. My mom won it at Tim Hortons (she already has one) for buying a case of Timmy's Tassimo discs. They were giving them away to the first 25 customers at all the Timmy locations. I love the skinny lattes. 35 cals, no sugar and 5g of protein! I also get the cappuccinos, they're a little sweeter at 2g and are 60 cals. I still drink my morning coffee black but I have a Tassimo in the afternoon.

Normally I use just milk in my coffee. When I want flavored coffee, I buy the flavored beans (you can get them whole & grind them yourself or get ground coffee). My favorite is creme brulee. At work we sometimes make a pot of vanilla macademia nut, for an afternoon treat. I can add a splash of lowfat milk if I don't want to drink it black.

I'm struggling with how to flavor my morning cup of coffee. I went from drinking the chemical laden creamer, to using the Natural Bliss that only had 4 ingredients. But I was using up to 3 tbs of that in my cup, which is still 15g of sugar! If that was the only sugar I had all day, it wouldn't be a problem. But I struggle with sweets and some days I do great..my only sugar is fruit. Then there are other days..well, you know how that goes. So I'm trying to find different ways to flavor my coffee. I'm trying vanilla flavored liquid stevia, and I'm not too crazy about it. I don't like artificial sweeteners, and even though it's natural, it still leaves an artificial aftertaste. So what do you guys do to flavor your coffee?
