I tried it and didn't like it. I didn't feel satisfied.

Besides its all sweet. I like sweet things but I don't want everything I eat to be sweet.

Made it to my maintenance weight of 125 pounds.

Even though I have reached goal. I still don't know everything about weight loss.

I think many people here have used Slimfast as a meal replacement, but as a weight loss option, it isn't a solution. If you were capable of controlling your surroundings, then you would be able to do that with regular food now. So if you don't think that is possible in, say 6 months, after you lost weight, then you will just slowly gain it all back. If you can control what you eat, then why not just do it now?

It is better than nothing, if in a hurry and the other option is skipping a meal, but not a permanent weight loss solution. Ensure would also work I'm guessing, if used this way.

You will find that many of our members use meal replacement shakes, cereals, entrees such as Slimfast, Boost, Ensure, HMR, Medifast, etc.

You may want to search our Sparkteams for a connection to others.

Research does show that meal replacements can help with weight loss and weight maintenance----it is a way to control portions, food intake, calorie intake. BUT, you must also learn to control your environment when you return to a more traditional eating plan or you will regain the weight lost.

I agree with the previous poster.

Honestly, the chemicals and processing of slimfast make it just not something I want. Plus the added sugar. No thanks. I would rather drink a glass of chocolate milk and take a multivitamin.

The other problem is that it doesn't teach you how to make healthy choices in eating, you just substitute that for a meal.

I have smoothies that I make for breakfast, but I rarely have the time to make them in the morning. So I make them and freeze a serving size in individual containers so I can grab one for work (I just eat it at my desk). WAY more nutritious, and clean and whole. Also, very satisfying.

I have, when I was working a lot and didn't have time to cook in the mornings (and I wasn't at all concerned with clean eating at the time). In terms of satiation, it doesn't satisfy me as well as whole food; it keeps my fuller than oatmeal but not as full as eggs and veggies, but it's not as tasty as either. In terms of weight loss, it works alright, and of course it does: it's a vitamin-fortified 190-calorie "meal." You'd have the same results if you replaced a meal with a 190-calorie glass of chocolate milk and took a multivitamin. I consider them an okay-but-not-exactly-good snack, but only if you're not eating clean and only if you don't have access to real food at the time.

I wouldn't bother with any of their other products; I bought a box of snack bars years ago and they were small, unsatisfying and nowhere near worth the price. They weren't even better for you than a regular granola or protein bar, they were just smaller, waxier and at least twice the cost.

My husband keeps the shakes in the house for "emergencies" (ie, when he forgets to set the alarm clock). I'd be lying if I said I never had one, but I'm almost always left disappointed. If I'm going to eat something as processed as Slimfast, I want it to be worth the indulgence. If you have major chocolate milk cravings, they do help with that.
