Glad you feel you are making good progress. I'm a little concerned about how much water you are drinking. If you have far too much water you flush too much sodium (salt) out of your system. If you are drinking just enough to not be thirsty you are ok. Just make sure you replace some of the salt (ideally with sea salt) that you lose by sweating.
As far as exercise, if you enjoy it keep it up, if not maybe make sure that most of it is lower intensity. You want to feel challenged, but not completely exhausted at the end.

Congrats on your success!

The weight-loss amounts I've heard range in at about 1-2 pounds per week. The more pertinent question (IMO) is how do you feel? Do you feel well?

I also agree with whoever encouraged you toward more strength training. The information I read anecdotally is that strength training is more beneficial than cardio or endurance sorts. I can't offer any personal experience with that, since I can't do any exercise at all. But that's what I've been reading, in any case.

If you're concerned about your rate of loss, I think the best place to begin asking questions is your PCP/GP. S/he should be in the loop with any health ventures you're making, and should be able to assist your efforts, or direct you to a nutritionist who will do so.

And good job again on your progress!
Way to go!

Paleo is very ideal for weight loss.. the pace of how fast you lose weight will depend on a lot of factors hence this is a case to case basis. But I do agree that paleo is most effective in losing weight. For one, once you get rid of grains and other sources of gluten, you have eliminated one of the causes of weight gain. :-)

You are going to have a faster weigh loss in the beginning.
I would encourage you to see if there is a "free (reduced-price) clinic" in your area for a check-up.

There are so many versions of the paleo diet. The only real way to see what you are actually getting is by tracking your food intake. Are you doing this at SP? Are you willing to make your tracker public? This will help us to give better tips. Let me know if you need the steps.

I'm sorry to hear about your mother.
Congrats on your losses. I think we all lose at different rates based on a lot of factors.

Congratulations on the weight loss and feeling better too.

From what I've read, weight loss can be quick early on when following a paleo diet/ grain free. Then the loss tends to slow down. I've seen this mentioned a few times in reading - & recall a recent similar mention on Dr. Davis's sight concerning rapid weight loss during the first month being typical.

If you are worried about muscle loss, then you need to be doing regular, quality strength training. As you lose weight, as much as 25% of your weight loss can indeed come from lean muscle mass... unless you do strength training to mitigate it.

The only thing I worry about is it fat or muscle loss...

Vitals, I check my blood pressure at home and my blood sugar from time to time, but I am uninsured at this time so I don't have a doctor. so far those two things have been with in normal limits when I have checked.

IT could just be that you found the food plan that works for you! Great! Stick to it and don't worry. Check in with your doctor so they can keep track of your vital signs.

I use working out as a escape from everyday life, and it helps me stay on track with my other goals too. I am training for a marathon in a year, and just completed my first 5k! At this time I don't feel like that part is to much because I am not feeling fatigued from it. I do listen to my body, if I feel like I am fatigued I chill a bit but not cut it out all the way. Thank you for answering and for the encouragement.
Melissa

I think the paleo diet can be a very healthy way to eat. I'm eating a Primal/Paleo/Real Food diet and I feel awesome. I eat a lot of fat though in meats, eggs and cream.

I do think you are working out too often. With a really clean diet like you are eating and 2 days of strength training a little walking would be enough, unless you feel like running.

If you feel good and you are losing I say keep up the great work girl! You have obviously found something that works for you.

As your insulin levels lower you initially lose a lot of excess stored fluid. Id you continue to lose wickedly, you may need to eat more. Adding some extra monounsaturated fat will help slow the fat loss but will not negatively impact your cardiovascular system. Macadamia nuts and avocado are about the best choices of monounsaturated fat (they contain even less omega 6 fat than olive oil; omega 6 increases cellular inflammation, not a god thing). You can get all the omega 6 you need from the lean meat and veggies you're eating. Congrats! Keep up the good job.

Hello,
I am a 27 year old female who on May 26, 2013 started the Paleo diet weighing 344lbs. If you don't know what that is, the main part of my diet is veggies (no legumes) and lean meat. No dairy, wheat or gluten and only limited carbs from fruit. I also cannot have processed foods. I am not on any diet pills or anything I am going at this completely natural.

So I have been on the diet (life style change) a few more days than 3 weeks. I went cold turkey and have only had one piece of flat bread as a cheat on the first of June. I also have one cup of coffee a day and atleast a gallon of water.

as of this morning I weigh 323lbs I am down 21lbs already. I am also working out 60-90 mins a day at the gym, walking, jogging and weight training.

is this too fast? I do not lack in the eating department, in fact I don't think I could eat anymore than I do. So what do you think? I am sure it will slow down pretty quick although in the past I have lost as much as 60lbs in 2 months on a similar but different diet and less of a work out.

I also wanted to say I feel great! I don't feel weak, dizzy or anything like I am starving myself.

I had lost 200lbs, gained back 60 with the passing of my Mother 6 months ago but am back on track now to reach my goal in the next year or two.

Please let me know what you guys think
Thank you,
Melissa

I feel that I am loosing too fast, but
