The sugar you get from fruit is still sugar. But, fruit is loaded with so many other good nutrients, that fruit is still a good thing. So, yes, the sugar is bad, but fruit makes up for it in other ways.
Be mindful of the quantities. Eating eight dried apricots is like eating eight apricots worth of sugar! Even the Atkins low-carb people add back in fruits pretty early in the dieting process, and they are militant against sugar.
I lost a lot of weight and maintained it for years, then I got all stressed and busy and lost my way. Starting over from a much better place (way less to lose this time!) and making things better.
